Default VPS - IIS Dead Again...

Hi

Our VPS Hosting is suffering its regular problem again......

IIS isn't serving any pages include plesk

RDP can login and the email is still working.

This is a regular situation and I have spent many hours talking to live chat. Unfortunately I have never had an explanation for the fault.

In addition when I logged into RDP today is ran the first time login and the desktop reset and the configure server page launched. oh and all the desktop shortcuts etc have disappeared.

If you are performing maintenance on the servers, you should inform your customers who are affected by it.

PLEASE is it possible for this to be sorted once and for all?

Default Mystery Problem Continues

Yes, I spoke to Ronan...

The sites magically started work again after being looked at, but nothing was done by Ronan??.

No answer to why my login to RDP has now a reset desktop the Manage Your Server page has returned though.

Anyway yet again all the IIS Web Server sites just stopped serving content at 22:46, I logged in on RDP and restarted the server.

Does the VPs need to be rebooted every two days? All we have is a simple ASP web site hosting that previously ran on a simple shared hossting plan. I'm a bit disappointed in the quality of VPS Hosting, If this is typical it doesn't suitable for any sort of commercial site.

Regards.

I have this often. The VPS Hosting grinds to a hault, I contact support on chat, they resolve it by restarting something or other, but I never find out what the actual problem is, nor is it ever permantently resolved. It does just seem that the VPS Hostings aren't powerful enough to run any kind of serious applications consistently. I've had to render one web site hosting to HTML so it didn't fall over every couple of days - which is far from ideal as it was supposed to be a dynamic, content managed site. Incidentally it ran fine on a shared server before.

Default site off AGAIN

I restarted the server lst nignt at 22:45, checking this mornig the sites are off again..sorestarting again.

This cannot be a VPS Hosting performance (lack of power) as we would have very little trafic during the night.

The web site hosting is a really simple asp site, so the complexity argument just isn't true. In any case mail and remote desktop are sill working fine. Remote desk is fast and responsive and shows memory available etc...

The problem must be with the VPS Hosting configuration of the containers. Do users on others nodes have the same issue? is it node specific?

---

The server restart hasn;t fixed it this time!!! Can someone please sort this out and EXPLAIN what the problem is.

Regards.

Hello,

We have checked and unable to find any problem on your VPS Hosting. If you want we can migrate OR create a new VPS Hosting on a new server which will going to setup in 1-2 weeks (IP might be get changed).

Just send a mail to VPS Hosting[at]eukhost.com if you want it to be migrated to new server.

Default Other VPS Hosting users on 92.48.97.*

Are there any other VPS Hosting users on 92.48.97.* having similar problems, this node seems to have suffered problems for a while now (see network status thread).

eukhost support team are very responsive so far and I have been very impressed by their attempts to cure the symptoms, but they don't seem to ever cure the cause of the problem.

What is my best option going forward - move to another VPS Hosting node?

Ditch windows and switch to a linux server
Not very helpful I know - but there does seem to have beeen a lot of trouble lately with windows servers (both VPS Hosting and shared) - and hardly any with linux - so unless you need asp or some other feature of windows, I'd switch to the penguin

I am also on this server, I have an ip in the 92.48.97.* range. IIS Web Server is down again today and I have never got a satisfactory answer as to why it is happening,

Sunday night one of my website hosting went to go down according to a monitoring program at around 1:40AM and no one on support noticed until I started a webchat at 9AM the next morning.

This was the same issue of IIS Web Server not responding accross the whole server. What kind of server monitoring is in place? I don't want to sound bitter but it feels that EUK have gone for the freebie option - no point in paying for a monitoring solution, just wait until a customer tells us.

I am seriously thinking of moving back to my old servers, their suport might be slow in getting back to me bit I NEVER had these kind of issues with them in the 1 1/2 years I had a VPS Hosting with them.

We have found the problem on node. It was due to non-paged memory limit.
NP pool on Windows 2003 x86 systems has limit 256 MB, it used for kernel operations (drivers), GUI and some others. In case NP pool is overloaded, the system becomes slow and unresponsive, some software components can't work normally (for example IIS Web Server refuses connections).

NP pool memory leaks can be caused by incorrect software work or malware. So if this problem happens we have to find out the process on main node and kill it, which is utilizing extra non-paged memory pool.

Another possible reason could be that the process which consumes non-paged pool memory could be a kind of malware. So in this case it is necessary to kill one at the first and then check VE with antivirus software

Also it may happen if service VPS Hosting got corrupted, which works between node and all VPS Hosting. We have re-created it on this node and all is working fine now.

OK, I sincerley hope this is the end of the issues.

Could you provide us with some more details on what server/service monitoring you do.

As this is clearly an issue you were aware was happening on this server since before the weekend, I find it anoying that you did not put any monitoring in place.

You should not have to wait for a customer to notice that no website hostings are being served over seven hours from when the problem occurs before rectifying it.

I understand that my individual VPS Hosting is my responsibility, buit this is an issue with the base system, something which is in your court.

Hello Rishil,

Your VPS Hosting is on an entirely different hardware node. It has no connection to the node in question here. I have answered your queries in the thread started by you. The support team has also updated your ticket with the pertaining logs.

Hello Dan, Anthony & Patrick,
Can you recheck the status & performance of your VPS Hostinges now, whether any of the problems faced earlier still persist ?
I can confirm that they should be good now... I'll further monitor the host server to check if anything is ruining it's performance.. & keep you updated.

For everyones info, the problem is NOT fixed, it happend last night and has just happened again.

This is not a performance slowdown issue. This is where IIS Web Server refuses connections.

We have found one VPS Hosting is continuously using non-paged memory and suspended it. Still if any user facing same problem, we request to provide us complete ip address so that we can investigate it.

We are also planning to have some VPS Hosting migrated to another node if this continues...
