VPS recommendations please...???

Hi,

I think I am looking for a VPS and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations about companies, types etc

I am looking to set up a website to download video from. I am not interested in video streaming but I am also not concerned with DRM… However I am completely new to this world and am unsure about what it is I require to set up this type of site i.e. do I need a VPS or will a webspace that offers a large amount of GB & RAM be sufficient… Are there already existing templates to assist with building such a sight?

I am sorry if dome of these questions are very obvious…

As you stated you would like to set up a website to download videos from, you might require a considerable amount of bandwidth You have not specified your exact requirement about downloading videos. Is your purpose only to store videos on your webspace and make them available for download ? Required bandwidth would also depend upon what size of videos you are downloading. If you are not going to configure streaming then no need to worry about memory and CPU usage. Audio-video streaming is not allowed on our Shared hosting and VPS hosting, It is allowed only on dedicated servers.

You can start with basic VPS package where you will get root / administrator access and you can install FFMPEG, Mplayer or any required application on VPS, which are not allowed on shared servers.

Regarding website setup, we don’t have any pre-defined website templates but I will move this thread in our development section, we have many web designers and developers active on this forum who might be able to help you in this regard.
