Where is HTTPD on VPS?

Hey folks, i have been getting used to the SSH/Linux enviroment, learning basic commands here and there. But i am having trouble locating the HTTPD file.

Now let me explain the situation, i wanted to password protect a directory, cpanel would not do this, it went through all the processed fine, but it just wasnt happening, i am not sure why.

So i did a google and followed a tutorial, all went well, but i could not complete the last step, here is the link:

I dont know where the httpd file is or if i even have one?

If i do where is it? But if i dont, how do i go about passwording the directory?

You can setup the password protected directory from cPanel >> Password Protect Directories option. For more details on Password Protected Directories you can refer the URL:- www. cpanel.net/docs/cpanel/Password_Protect_Directories.htm
The path of the home directory (httpd) and files of every domain on a cpanel server is /home/username/public_html/

As i said cPanel does not work, and i miss phrased the above, where is the httpd.conf file found?

Path for "httpd.conf" is "/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf".

Right i see it, but the folder is named httpd.old is this still the working httpd?

Hello,

Folder named "httpd.old" is the backup of httpd. Path of current working httpd is '/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf'. You need to use this.
