I have a 18GB backup that I am ftp'ing to my backup server at the moment, according to ftp (ncftpput) the duration is going to be over 600minutes, that over 10hours! is there a possibility to rsync this backup instead of having to upload the huge file everytime? rsync only works with ssh AFAIK, so what can be done?

You can use rsync on windows server as well.
You need to install Cygwin on both server to support rsync.

You can email to our support team at support [at] eukhost.com for detailed instructions on how to, assuming you are having a dedicated server with us.

Hi Gilbert,

Rsync would be the best option in this case as you have a Linux Server and Linux - Linux rsync backup is quite simple to configure. One of our staff member will add SSH key of the backup space on your Dedicated Server and your Dedicated Server will be allowed to directly login in your backup space without password. This is all that you need to setup cron job for Rsync backup.

You can try and search for some documentation to help you with generation of SSH key in your backup account and add that key in /root/.ssh/authorized_keys file on your Dedicated Server. Once this is done then try to ssh to your backup space directly from command prompt of your Dedicated Server and you will get logged in directly in your backup account.

You are most welcome to get this done from our Support team if you find it complicated
