Cron Jobs and Get requests

Hi everyone, I've been trying to grapple with this for a while and, although Alex has been a real star in going to extra mile to explain it to me, my aged brain is still not playing ball. I thought it might be easier if I just posted this here, rather than take up too much of his time?

Here's the deal.....

All my sites are wordpress sites. I run a sitemap generator when I launch a site. This generator allows it to be run from a GET request also eg:

http://www.ipmventures.co.uk/?sm_com...591c60ac1429e1

Paste this bit of code into a browser and you get a DONE message, the sitemap is updated and all is well.

However, what I would like to do is run this as a cron job, say once a week? No matter how hard I try, I can't get it to work, despite Alex's best efforts to encourage my feeble brain.

Cpanel has a very nice cron job facility and I have been trying to get it execute this command in a file but no joy. I would be really grateful for some pointers? I think it is because it is not easy to embed a direct url command witihin a file?

Please try to set cron same as below

/usr/bin/wget -q -O - "http://www.ipmventures.co.uk/?sm_command=build&sm_key=ed6f32a204e681afb0591c60a c1429e1"

It should work
