Default A Entry Problem for Dedicated Server

I seem to get this error on a regular basis, it was fixed by support and somehow crept back again...any ideas? As far as I can see it doesn't cause any problems.

IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email.
The hostname (VPS Hosting114.specialservers.com) resolves to . It should resolve to 38.99.146.142. Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain.

Some are all of these problems can be caused by
/etc/resolv.conf being setup incorrectly. Please check this file if you
believe everything else is correct.

You may be able to
automaticly correct this problem by using the ' Add an A entry for your
hostname ' under ' Dns Functions ' in your Web Host Manager

You can change your hostname from your WHM. specialservers.com is our domain name and a DNS entry for your server was missing on our domain. I added this now to sort this problem so you wont receive any such error message again.

Though you dont see any problem due to this notification but some ISP's don't allow incoming emails from servers which don't have forward and reverse dns for hostnames.

Let me know if you wish to change the hostname as I will need to go ahead and add reverse dns for your VPS Hosting.

Thanks very much, that's great, and it also may explain some of the email irregularities that have been occurring (it's no biggie).

When I pick a name is it simply a distinctive name for the server? What I really mean is do I need a domain name associated with the VPS Hosting itself?

We have hostnames of all our servers as server.eukhost.com, merlin.eukhost.com, harrier.eukhost.com,... so you can make something similar for your server.

Make it something like server.yourdomain.com. Once you do this you will need to login in your VPS Hosting and run following command :-

/usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt

just type this command ( single line ) and hit enter. Your WHM wont reload if you dont run this command. This is important to inform cpanel that your hostname has changed so the IP should be linked to the new hostname. Mae sure that you click on add dns entry for new hostname once you change the hostname.

Let me know your new hostname once you sort this and I will add reverse dns entry for you.
