Default Network Timeout

Every now and then I get:

Network Timeout

The operation timed out when attempting to contact IPADDRESS.

I tried speaking with your support yesterday on chat, however he seemed to think it was my previous providers fault (perhaps this was the way I explained it, however I'm sure I was clearer the second time explaining it, and even clearer the third time), but I wasn't connected to my host. He then said it was because I was uploading large files, although my files are relatively small.

When FTP stops responding and I can't log in, I find I also cant connect to a domain pointing to server.

Your tech support then said it must be my local connection, however I find other sites working perfectly fine at that time.

Sometimes when this happens WHM also stops responding.

Any ideas?

Hello,

Is there any firewall like CSF installed on your server and configured to block the IPs after few login failures ?

In all honesty, I'm really unsure.

My previous providers of a managed server was 1&1, they provide no root access and their own control panel, I'd been with these for many years, so cPanel/WHM is new to me and taking me time to adjust to.

Where would I find this firewall and it's settings? You guys set this up for me yesterday.

if you login to yout root WHM, scroll to the very bottom of the left hand side menu, if you have configserver firewall it will be listed there, in the plugins section.

yes support can add it for you, submit a ticket.

also submit a ticket for the network timeouts also, as they maybe able to sort it quicker than waiting on forum replies

Hi Lance,

I did try their live support, but I'm not sure the chap understood what I meant. I'll open a ticket for that also.

Thanks again.

The modems fine, and the problem is intermitent. I can still use other website hostings, and other mail servers whilst the problem occurs.

A ticket was submited, I'm now waiting for it to happen again so I can run a trace.
