Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam on Semi Dedicated

I am considering moving to a Windows semi-dedicated server without the Plesk control panel (to keep costs down).

Anti-Virus

1. Do I need to install a separate Anti-Virus application or will my server be protected by existing EUKHost controls?
2. If I need to install a separate Anti-Virus application, what's your recommendation?

Anti-Spam

1. Do I need to install a separate Anti-Spam application like Spam Assassin? Or again will my emails be protected by existing EUKHost controls?

Most of the features are installed by Plesk and if you do not want to have Plesk on your server then you will have to install them manually. Yes, you will be able to install your own copy of anti virus on the server.

No the current anti spam settings will not work for you on your semi dedicated server. You will have to install an Anti-Spam protection on your server or use a third party mail server. I would recommend you to use google aps for your email requirement which will also reduce your work to manage the email server and if you use your registrar DNS then your email will never go down even if your sever is offline for any reasons.

Am I covered by Anti-Virus on my existing Windows VPS? I do have the Plesk CP but I haven't purchased the extra Dr Web Anti-Virus add-on.

Dr. Web anti-virus can be installed/works only with Plesk. If you do not go for Plesk then you need to purchase a separate anti-virus application which can perform runtime scan for your emails.

By default Windows VPS do not cover any anti-virus but yes we install all the latest security patches on it.
Dr. Web is a addon/additional license which integrates with Plesk. You will need to purchase a license of Dr. Web if you want to protect your emails.
