Setting Up Shared SSL

To set up shared SSL on your web servers, create a domain in IIS with a dedicated IP address and install your SSL certificate. Your SSL certificate provider will have details on installing the certificate on the IIS website.

You don't have to install the SSL certificate on a Helm created domain, though if you wish to do so, this is an option.

In Helm, go to System Settings > Servers > SERVERNAME (the name of the server that you just installed the certificate on) and click on one of the web services that you have already set up.

Enter the name of the IIS website that you used (usually the domain name) into the SSL domain name text box in the web service properties. The SSL domain entered in to the web service in Helm must exactly match the name given to the SSL domain in IIS other wise Helm will be unable to create the SSL virtual dir.

Now, you need to let Helm know that the SSL domain exists. To do this, go to C:\Helm.Config and delete the IIS.xml file that is there. This will be rebuilt upon adding a domain in Helm. It is important that you delete this IIS.xml file. Without doing so, Helm and IIS will not synch correctly and SSL will not work.

In the reseller and customer plans and/or packages you can now add limits for SSL installations. If a domain's package is set to allow the installation of an SSL certificate, there will be an SSL icon in the Domain Menu.

Click on the icon and click the install button.

Helm will create an SSL folder in the users physical web space, and then create a virtual directory under the SSL domain pointing to the folder.
