Another newbie question - dns hosting

So I am new to hosting but I have decided to build my site from scratch rather than use WHCMS as I want total control and to understand how it all hangs together. I have got the enom api working to check and buy domains and the plesk api working to automate setting up new accounts on my reseller package (using PHP and curl functions to pass xml api messages).

Next question is regards DNS hosting. When I buy the domain from enom, do I specify the EUK nameservers and then set up all of the DNS records on Plesk ..... or do I use enom for the DNS hosting and just point the A record to the IP of my euk hosting server? I am leaning towards hosting DNS on euk but want to be sure that is the right thing to do.

Hi Graham,

You should use our nameservers as default nameservers in your enom account. This will allow your customers to setup subdomains and email service on their hosting account. If you simply forward A record from enom then you will need to manually add A records for subdomains and MX records for email service for all your customers.

Geek I like to think an ITIL qualified Service Manager .... not sure if the IBM offshore coders that I manage would think I am clever enuff to be a geek!

Will post up URL when done, not looking to reinvent the wheel, I am just building a couple of easy php class files that allow me to integrate domain sales and hosting setup into my site without having to use a full blown package like Coin etc. The APIs are quite simple to use through curl or fopensocket so should be easy enough to do.

First time I have looked into hosting reselling (escape plan from current job as Service Manager for FTSE 100 company is to resell hosting and also building some specialised cms using fckeditor), nearly went Heart but been really pleased with the service and support from Euk so far ... if the business takes off I'm sure I'll end up on a VPS.

Someone as intelligent as you should not face much problem in Business. I wish to see you upgrade to a Dedicated Server within a year.
