Default CGI Counters, Form Mail etc...

Hello All,

I am new to these forums and I am happy to see that they exist.

I Have a Windows Reseller account and have a few domains up and running on them.

My question is:

Are there any CGI scripts that come with the Reseller package, ie counters formail etc... which are accessible through the Plesk Interface.

Many Thanks

cyberdeeze

Hi Cyberdeeze,

Welcome to the forum. We do have a popular collection of pre-installed cgi scripts included with our Reseller Hosting packages. Some of those scripts are Simple CGI Wrapper, Random HTML, Counter, CGI Email, Form Mail Clone, Entropy Search and Entropy Banner.

Lightbulb Application provided by Plesk !

Hello,

There is no such special CGI scripts/programs that can be installed from the Plesk control panel interface. If you have a CGI script, you can upload it into the provided webspace & they'd work as normal

Plesk provides the 'Web Applications' feature, same as Fantastico provided by cPanel. This is the application repository of Plesk, here you'd find the following applications that can be installed on your site for free

Code:
Application Description
brim::Personal online organizer
DotNetNuke::Free, Open Source Framework for creating Web Applications
Drupal::Open source content management system and blogging engine
eGroupWare::Open source groupware software
fasttrack::MIVA Merchant Fast Track - Professional online store.
gtchat::Web Chat
joomla::Content management system and Web application framework
mambo::Mambo is an Open Source CMS system.
mantis::Issue tracking system
mediawiki::Open source knowledgebase and content management system
merchant::MIVA Merchant Five - Professional online store.
moodle::Open source software for creating online education sites
myorgbook::Online organizer
noahclass::Classifieds system
osCommerce::osCommerce is an online shop e-commerce solution.
phpAds::Open source ad serving software for Web sites
phpBB::Highly customizable PHP open-source bulletin board package
phpBook::phpBook is an easy configurable and very simple guestbook
phpmyvisites::Open source Web site statistics software
PHProjekt::Open source groupware suite
PostNuke::Content management system
smf::Online forum based on PHP and MySQL
tikiwiki::Open source content management system
UebiMiau::UebiMiau is a web-interface to your mail.
WebCalendar::Open source Web-based calendaring and scheduling system
xoops::Open source content management system

Default Thanks Rock

Thanks Rock,

I am aware of the web applications and how to install them.

What I am really looking for are things like CGI Web counters and formail types of CGI Scripts. These are what I am unable to find, should they exist.

Nopes, CGI scripts aren't provided by Plesk, but a "BBClone : Feature rich counter" web application, is available. BBclone is a web counter written in PHP. But it is not *just* a counter : BBClone gives a detailed view of the visitors of your web site.
Regarding the formmail & other such scripts, you can upload them from your end, to your webspace to make them to work..

I would also like to add an additional comment that CGI-FormMail normally uses Sendmail Program, which is not installed/supported on our Shared/Reseller Windows server.

I suppose there are scripts that works on Windows but are more complicated to configure. CGI does not perform to its best on Windows 2003, may be it will have better support in 2008 edition.

That sounds great. I personally recommend to either use CDOSys or ASPEmail to send emails from a script on a Windows server, as they are reliable and easy to configure as well as fix.

PHP mail() function too can be used but most of the time it ends up being exploited by spammers, if not configured correctly.

Happy Holidays to you too.:santasmileyitty:
