Default SQL Server - Express?

Hmmm... I notice in ASP.NET configuration in Plesk, there's a default connection string set up called LocalSqlServer. It starts "data source=.\SQLEXPRESS". Please tell me this doesn't mean that your "SQL Server" support is actually just the free edition rather than "real" SQL Server

LOL.

Its not a free version or anything like that. Its a registered version running on a separate windows hosting server with MSSQL 2000.

Heh... I had to check So what's with the "SQLEXPRESS" connection string? Do you run SQL Server Express as well as SQL Server 2000?

Just out of curiosity... if the database is running on a separate server, how come I can access it via my website hosting's domain name? I've also seen a reference to mssql.mydomain.com somewhere, but that goes to the same IP address.

I am not 100% sure what it is but some SQL Server was installed by our windows system admins at the time of setup of server. We then decided to have the ms SQL Server on a different server and plesk was configured accordingly.

I'll have one of our senior windows system admin to reply to this thread shortly.

There's no rush - as I say, it's just out of curiosity. I do trust you guys

By the way, just to save me starting a new thread just for this, your knowledge base doesn't work for me. All the links to articles just bring up "Error on page" (IE6). Example: http://eukhost.com/support/domknow.php line 214, "Invalid argument". I can access the articles by entering their URL, though, so this is just to let you know.

I dont see any error in the support section. I checked from different system in our office and there's no such error. Can you restore default settings of IE and check ?

Thumbs up

Regarding your previous questions,

1) MsSQL 2000 database server is running on same server.

2) ASP.NET configuration showing in plesk control panel.
Quote:
"LocalSqlServer data source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Integrated Security=SSPI;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|aspn etdb.mdf;User Instance=true".
This is just an example. You can modify it as per your needs. Plesk provides it as default ASP.NET settings for Connection String Manager, for DSN less connections.

We have not faced any problem/error with the knowledge base while accessing it in IE6 as well as in other web browsers. Please make sure you have flash plug-ins installed on your local machine.

Best Regards,
UKShane
