Default windows Plesk : AWStats not working (bug fix)

If client complains that his AWStats keep on disappearing from Plesk and aren't getting updated, it's most likely that AWStats bug that appears in Plesk 7.5.3 isn't fixed. Here's what you have to do in order to have it fixed:

First check if AWStats is installed at all (you can do this from Plesk). If not, login to server and install it from the "Add and remove programs". Once that's installed, download the fix located at manage.newgen.ca/downloads/awstat7.5.3fix.zip

Double-click the file and paste both cgi-bin and statistics.exe on the Desktop.

Please refer to attachment no : 1.jpg (20.6 KB)

Navigate to c:\Program Files\SWSoft\Plesk\Additional\AWStats\wwwroot

and paste cgi-bin folder there, make sure to click "Yes to all" on the popup window:

Now navigate to c:\Program Files\SWSoft\Plesk\admin

and paste statistics.exe to bin folder (not to admin, but to admin\bin) - again, click on "Yes" when asked if you want to replace the file:

Please refer to attachment no : 3.jpg (23.0 KB)

Open CMD and navigate to c:\Program Files\SWSoft\Plesk\admin\bin and run statistics.exe. If there are already active domains on the server, it might take some time until the stats are updated. If there are none, this should be rather quick.

Please refer to attachment no : 4.jpg (15.8 KB)

If there are domains and if it takes longer, make sure not to idle more than 15 minutes in the server because the session will be terminated. The bug should be fixed now and AWStats should be working properly.

Also, if AWStats didn't get updated after a month or so for any reason (but the bug is fixed), make sure to run statistics.exe in c:\Program Files\SWSoft\Plesk\admin\bin via CMD. It will probably run for a while, but that will update AWStats for sure and they should keep on updating after that normally.

This will resolve the awstats issue

Best Regards,
Vallerie.

Hello,

Thank you for the info. yes, AWStats has been a nightmare for us as well as for the clients as it will stop updating at any point of time.

statistics.exe changes with every version of Plesk and Plesk have also made alot of changes to over come AWStats problems. There are number of factors that may hit the working of AWStats with Plesk. And most if the fixes can be found in the SWsoft KB articles.

Plesk 8.3 recently had an issue of AWStats showing number of hits way less than the actual hits on the site. So the fix mentioned by you may not work for all the Plesk version.
