Question Bandwidth Usage

Hi all,

We have a Linux Standard reseller package with 40GB. One of our customers sites is allocated 10GB of bandwidth, but always uses more.

I've checked Awstats and jpg images have used 7.16 GB of images this month!

Is there anyway to see which images are taking the most bandwidth?
Maybe there is a large image which is loaded on every page.

Cheers Stu

Have a look in the stats produced by Webalizer - there is a section 'Total URLs By KBytes' which lists the files reponsible for the most bandwidth
Regards

Here are the stats from Webalizer
Code:
Top 10 of 1545 Total URLs By KBytes
# Hits KBytes URL
1 42916 7.73% 2063453 19.44% /
2 5409 0.97% 126172 1.19% /site/header.jpg
3 149 0.03% 88605 0.83% /images/00039680.JPG
4 141 0.03% 86120 0.81% /images/00039695.JPG
5 606 0.11% 81431 0.77% /images/00030727.JPG
6 668 0.12% 78476 0.74% /images/00038469.JPG
7 619 0.11% 74225 0.70% /images/00030709.JPG
8 661 0.12% 72455 0.68% /images/00038460.JPG
9 1931 0.35% 66978 0.63% /site/catimini.bmp
10 559 0.10% 65592 0.62% /images/00031396.JPG
None of these files look rather big. Here is the bandwidth used for today alone.
Code:
Day	visits	Pages	Hits	Bandwidth
21 Feb	187	1897	17937	479.55 MB
Dose this look normal?

I would like to know the domain name in question. I will check all raw logs on server to provide you with accurate information on your bandwidth usage.

Thanks, the domain is bossybootskidz.com

I'll ask the customer tomorrow about hot linking, but I've just enabled HotLink Protection so I can see if it makes a difference.

Thanks Stu

It seems your customer has got his products listed on many other websites including eBay. He has used images from bossybootskidz.com for listing of his products. He will face problems with listing of his products as the images won't load on websites where he has got his products listed. Average size of all images is much more than it should be. You can ask them to reduce size of images as that's the only way to keep traffic usage low on a popular website with hundred's of products.

The site/domain bossybootskidz.com is hotlink protected and no one could use your images. you can check this simply by accessing image directly via browser [http://bossybootskidz.com/images/00039680.JPG] it will not be accessible.
