Exclamation MySQL problems again?

I'm still having MySQL issues with the server either going down or simply not behaving as it should. At the moment I have one database where the tables cannot be accessed - therefore no content for the website.
I have opened a ticket for this (BGK-28591-289) but would like some feedback as to why this is happening and why its happening so often. A basic requirement of any modern website is a secure and consistent MySQL connection wouldn't you say?

that's something at least - I am becoming increasingly frustrated at the number of times this problem is occurring. I have a responsibility to my clients and there's only so often that they will accept these problems. I will have to look for a more reliable host in this respect I think - which is a shame.

do you really need a windows hosting account ?

You are using php and MySQL so I am not able to make out why you need a windows account.

I also host ASP pages - I must say - I've not had a problem with my ASP/Access websites - only the MySQL side. It doesn't help though when I get a response ticket asking for information I'd supplied in the original one anyway.

Hi,

The MySQL issue should be fixed now. The InnoDBs were responsible all the trouble. Let us know if you need anything else.

The problems are still apparent on my websites. I did notice the innoDB error message while I was trawling around phpmyadmin - but for much of today the error has been due to missing MYI files - probably related to the problem as a whole. There was a short time when all was fixed - I think that was just after a restart of MySQL server around 5 o'clock, as all mysql websites died for a short time - but quickly the problem returned and all data was lost once more. The error in phpMyAdmin is still due to missing MYI files for the database tables. This problem is not fixed I'm afraid.

ok - it turns out that some database files were corrupted or deleted. Support - after obviously messing around with MySQL on the windows server for a good while now - and this kind of activity can indeed have this result, as can moving files to new servers etc. had the audacity to suggest that it might have been a password hack on my website or even bad scripting!!!! Unbelievable. I have been patient - I understand the problems that can be faced with MySQL on a windows system and have endeavoured to provide as much info about problems as I can, but when three MySQL websites go down on three separate websites simultaneously with identical errors (one of which a wordpress blog - so hopefully no bad scripting there) while technicians are working on the MySQL system, how can the blame possibly be directed towards me?? Furthermore, during yesterday the MySQL server was restarted and after which, my websites rendered fine - for about 2 minutes - but in that time all data was present and visible before developing the original problem once more. Support seemed uninterested in this.
I have restored my tables via phpMyAdmin (luckily I keep backups) but am concerned at the dismissive tone from the support department - never an apology, always an accusation toward the customer.
Why could they not have just apologised for the inconvenience and explained that they have been working on the system and unfortunately some of my database files were corrupted or deleted. I would have accepted that in the hope that that work would ultimately lead to a stable system.
Perhaps yesterday was a bad day for your support department - several hours after opening a ticket explaining the problem and giving the URL, I received a reply asking for a URL! - terrific! I think support might find their job easier if they actually read the tickets in the first place.

none of our support staff will ever modify / delete data off any customer. So far we have never removed any kind of data from account of any customer no matter if its a spamming script or anything else but we simply change attributes and permissions in such cases.

We apologize if we make any mistakes but we cannot apologize to make customers happy for no mistake. safety of customers data is our top most priority and there's no reason for us to delete any of your tables or anything.

I will request our windows team to provide you with all the logs they have but expectations should not be very high incase of windows as logs generated on windows are much less descriptive in comparison with Linux.

Hello Esnail,
You mentioned three websites going down. Are they all using same database (despite being on different servers)?

I am testing some loading issues with mySQL index (.MYI) files, not with eukHost though. Something seems to be wrong with mysql in general if files are manipulated manually. I am yet to get into this problem's core.

As far as support at euk is concerned, it is higher than "acceptable ranges". mySQL is not used to Windows environment and Windows users are not used to rigid *nix policies hence the issues with Apache, PHP and mySQL. For example, Just renaming a file may create unexpected results. Another one, The two database files in mysql (say 200MB) may appear identical despite different contents (say one having 2MB of data and the other 100MB) Generally, in my experience, the problem may not be what Windows spits out in its messages.

hostingcontroller has offered a feature in which we can use a Linux server for Email service, MySQL and DNS. We are testing this feature right now and I have requested our senior windows system admins to do test this clustering feature rigorously and if this works well then we will have a solution for windows hosting as good as cPanel.

I hope everything goes well as Linux will definitely be the best solution for MySQL, Emails and DNS.
