Default Reseller Hosting Account Help

Good Evening

I signed up with eukhost this week and have been mostly pleased with the service so far, but can anyone point me to some help guides for setting up domains? I've used web control panels before such as Plesk and Helm (for individual domains) so that bit is fine, but some of the things in Hosting Controller I find a bit confusing.

I think the main two questions/problems I have are:

a) is a CP for each domain/subdomain supposed to get set up automatically because it isn't for me. Is it my responsibilityto install a CP for each each? If so do I have to use Plesk or can I use Helm? Do my hosted domains use a different CP to my main domain?

b) if my website has a /admin folder does this cause a problem because access to Hosting Controller is through this same folder and a virtual directory seems to exist with the same name.

Thanks

from what i remember of HC, you setup your CP's in the terms of Users/Logins (cannot remember exact terminology). Then when creating a domain you get to choose the user to assign the domain to. When that user logs in via theirdomain.com/admin, they will see all the domains assigned to them.

This will mean you can control the CP's so that you can have a CP for your domain and then each hosted domain can have there own CP (if you so wish).

Yes I believe this does cause a problem. But if you need to, you can delete the Virtual Directory admin folder so only you /admin folder will be used. I am not sure if you can rename the admin virtual directory. You should have received a welcome email telling you how to access your CP without using the /admin directory.

Hope this helps

I'm starting to realise that all domains within the reseller account use Hosting Controller then? For some reason I thought HC was used for the reseller stuff and Plesk was used to manage each domain.

I see what you're saying, so if the website has a /admin folder it will override the default one, but you can still get in using the port number? If so that's fine, infact it's quite good

Thanks

Reseller Hosting features of HostingController are quite similar to cPanel - WHM. You add client accounts from your master control panel and then your clients will login in their control panel which will have all features like email, databases, stats, ftp manager and so on.

take a look at their recently released HC 7 manual :-

Yes, there's going to be a conflict between the /admin virtual directory & the /admin folder, as both of them point to different locations & serve different roles.

We can have the /admin virtual directory renamed as per your requirement.
eg: /admin can be renamed to /cp or /controls or /anything

eg: http://domain.com/admin -> http://domain.com/cp or http://domain.com/controls or http://domain.com/anything

Please place a ticket to windows@eukhost.com & we'll get it setup for you in less than 5 mins
