Firefox vs IE (oh please!)
Seen as though we were "kicked" off the other topic (can I appeal lol ) I have started this topic like Thomas suggested - although I didn't see the harm in a little diversivication .
Firefox vs IE - oh please is there any need.
Its like Polar Bear v Ant.
IE doesn't particually annoy me apart from its security issues, constant bugs and other annoyances (so maybe it does annoy me then? ) If they just made it secure!
And for the record - I would not have bitched fighted about the browsers - I don't like anything from Microsoft - its indiscrimiate disliking lol

Cool, I will log on in a sec.
I wont annoy you Thomas - I don't lie about IE. I like it, it is very like Firefox but firefox seem to take feedback and listen and incorporate little changes more willing than MS (probably because MS don't need to listen anymore as their top of the browser wars where as Firefox needs to keep anyone they can get).
And even you have to admit that IE has more security vulnerability than Firefox.
If I point out something incorrect about IE I am happy to correct it.
PS. You've just participated Thomas!

Well, I still using IE 7. I prefered firefox when it was IE 6 but I like the way IE 7 is set out. It also looks really good in Vista. I just find firefox a bit clunky when you see it side by side with IE 7 on Vista.
And I only got Vista as it came on my new laptop! I wasn't planning on getting it for another few months!

IE is the biggest load of sh*t since Big Brother (sorry to all you fans, it's just not my cuppa tea). I love Firefox because of all the plugins - a nice variety.
As a web developer & designer, I wish that all browsers could stick to some sort of standards for web pages, so that you make one page and it works with all browsers, you normally have to do css 'hacks' to get ya stuff to display right in IE.

Tell me about it. It's like the thing with the gif's we were just discussing. Firefox plays them alot faster than IE so you end up with things flying stupidly in firefox or really slowly in IE.

Firefox does stick to web standards - IE doesn't - and although IE7 is much improved over ie6 there are still too many hacks needed to render a standards compliant web page close to how it should look. Microsoft is now beginning to take web standards seriously and is striving to create their next browser as a secure standards compliant effort - even recruiting Molly E. Holzschlag to ensure that its development adheres as closely as possible to web standards. Unfortunately IE has to be backwards compliant to some extent with the rendering of its past browsers and with Microsoft software generated HTML (i.e. FrontPage) - which is not always the best written, so it's gonna be a tricky task for them - but in fairness, Microsoft is making an effort.
I test all of my website hostings in Firefox primarily, then in IE7, IE6, Opera and Safari - if I can I also check them in Konquerer but if they work in all others they should work in that. I'm tending to test in IE 5.5 less and less these days.

Yes, IE doesn't stick to the web standards because it is trying to clone all technologies (MySQL to MSSQL etc) but in doing so doesn't care breaking the standards to make it look better.
And Frontpage HTML - now that is a joke - it can't even write semi complient nearly valid HTML even on a short simple page!! For a start it inludes meta data in the head tags that produce the error "this attribute is not support nor is defined by the W3C".
I still use IE sometimes and used to use it all the time - I gradually am going over to firefox mainly because it is fast and crashes less with stupid errors!!
And, Thomas, in your comment from the other thread yes you could look at the source, but that just proves my point. You cant look at IEs source and it still gets the crap kicked out of it. Firefox you can look at the source and it happens so much less.
The best thing is the moderators are now having little edit wars in the other closed thread! lol ("Animated Gifs Faster In Firefox). I think its unfair to close a thread and then to have little edit wars in it - we should all be allowed to comment on it!! Geeze, what happened to "Free Speech"!!

No thanks, I like Free Speech on the eUKhost forum!
Sorry I must have misinterpreted "Last edited by Ben : Today at 11:26. Reason: Thomas, it's my opinion? "OPINION". I assumed that meant that the post had been edited by Tom and then restored by Ben or something like that! It sure sounds like that!
