I am a resident of second life once I visited a dancing club there and just clicked a button and then I completely lossed the track and couldn't stop dancing, the same thing might be happened to the rapist, he might be tried to stop but could not be possible for him to stop like me...

If they are really guilty, punish them by keeping them in virtual cell for virtual time but don't bring them into public, they are just avatar.

SL is a bit of an enigma to me. Everyone goes on about how great it is, and in theory they should be right, but everytime I go on it its as laggy as hell. Then theres the fact that while your talking to a tall leggy blonde, with a chest looks like an airship race, your probably talking to a 52 year old plumber from croydon =|oO

Personally I've stayed away from Second Life altogether - not for any particular reason I can mention.

I agree with the Virtual cell punishment and also yes it could be a mistake.

But investigating it as a crime in the real world? - is it just me or have some authorities in the world really lost the plot!

Depends. If its something cyberspace you can't call it sexual assault, because that requires physical contact, but if its an extention of RL bullying and harrassment then it could be different

In legal point of view sexual assault has broad meaning so it does not even require physical contact. Since virtual reality such as SL represents an occasion for their resident for social reordering and re-enactment hence rape should be condemnable too within that virtual society as we strongly oppose it in our real life.

I suppose there are some fair points but come on isn't this story going a little far? Maybe a slap on the hand and a fine? - but a fully blown criminal case of rape? Is it really necessary?

Virtual punishent ? Real life punishment ? For a poxy game ? Whats the world coming to. People need to get a grip on reality.
