Spam in New Flavour
"Spammers are back with spamming in new flavour taking the support of music- sending MP3 attachments that contain the latest stock scams.
"An attached MP3 file purporting to be a song from well-known artists such as Elvis Presley, Fergie and Carrie Underwood". vnunet.com/vnunet/news/2201466/pump-dump-spammers-tell-users

if you follow the good practice of any kind of spam - that is not opening any attachment if you don't know who sent it, then you'll be fine. I don't know why people insist on opening attachments!!

Well, on the contrary I read "Study Says P2P Downloaders Buy More Music" I have little doubt on this since the study conducted by Canadian Government. michaelgeist.ca/content/view/2347/125/

Its probably true - and of course will be used by P2P downloaders to justify their actions.

Spammers will always be out there. They are part of the internet, I honestly don't think we could ever stop spammers and just need accept them and accept we need to avoid such.
Spammers will always find new methods I've seen it done on mp3s a few years ago.
They just like the flu.

Yes, we just have to accept it and defend ourselves as best as we can, a bit like in the non-electronic world with things like terrorism .

For neutralizing such spam, is there a way out to block few letters/text and the vowels generally used by spammers? say for example I block MP3 or word like hype, finance etc for which I am least interested.

I know that but I never intend to download any MP3 and subscribe finance assistance or hype/stock related web site hosting so there is no question for me for losing legitimate topics.

even if you did block words like 'finance' or 'mp3' they'd still find ways round it. Just think how many times you've had emails trying to sell you Viiagra or V1agra or Via-gra, etc, etc.

Nothing will ever be fool proof and most will adapt like your example shows. But I am still amazed as to how much spam I can block even using simple word filters - for me it is hundreds.
