Advice on transferring website hosting to eUK host
Hi, me again!!
I currently have a website hosting hosted in the states, which runs a oscommerce shop. If I want to move the whole lot over to EUK host, and have EUK hosting the website hosting how is the transfer managed with regards to existing data and files etc?
I do not really want to lose the existing data as it contains over 4,000 customers and 300 products
Advice would be greatfully received
Regards
Daz

If your current hosting is using cPanel then it's pretty easy to transfer over; sign up for eUK then send them the details of your current hosting, and then they will be able to move the whole lot over, including SQL Server databases and all email.

Is the domain name currently controlled via a domain registration company or via your current web host? If the first it'll simply be a case of updating the DNS records to point to the eukhost servers (this info is included in the setup email sent by eukhost). If owned via your current host I think there is a 'transfer domain' option with the hosting, I'm sure support/sales can give better info as to how to transfer. You can open a ticket in sales or support department for more information.

One of my friends previous old hosts allowed him to shut down his hosting account and leave the domain where it is while opening a new account at the new host. Although some people do find it easier to transfer their domain, whether it is hosted by a domain registration company or a host, to their new host so that they can administer everything in one place.
Hope that helps .

same problem
Dear Sir,
i was going through the forum and readed this thread. in fact i am also worried about the same problem.
i have a website hosting i e www.lakesparadise.com
the total size of website hosting is arround 1.5 gb which also includes database. the website hosting is hosted on linux server with cpanel and i wish to transfer to euk. can you please transfer the website hosting on your server. i will add the domain to the reseller account. the only problem with website hosting transfer is its size. the website hosting have average 1 lakhs hits that i dont want to loos if i will take back up and then restore it to euk with slow speed of net in india will take long time. may be months and will be tedious job if you can do this i can provide the cpanel login details. in a private support ticket. and once the transfer done i can change the nameserver.
Please let me know is it possible or i have to continuee with them only.
Thanks
Nishant

Even though your website hosting is large, it won't take long for it to be transferred over. Please open a support ticket with support [at] eukhost.com
In the ticket you will need to specify the address of the current server in which the website hosting recides, along with the cPanel login details of the current server. You will also need to provide the details of your eUK linux reseller account so that the transfer can take place.
All data will be copied, and nothing will be lost.
After the website hosting has been transferred over, you will need to make the necessary nameserver changes to the domain in question.

why linux reseller
thanks but why linux reseller plan. i have yesterday purchased windows reseller plan and i know windows hosting can have both php and MySQL Server database i wish to transfer my website hosting to windows servers as i wish to add new functionality to website hosting with asp.net and for that i need windows hosting only. this is the only reason of shifting the website hosting to euk otherwise the previous host was great with linux hosting.
Thanks

Transferring over everything won't be an option then. If it was Linux you had got yesterday, then you would be ok because of cPanel's built in transfer function. It won't be possible with Windows Reseller as Linux and Windows use different control panels.

You should be able to download a backup copy of your database from your current cPanel or PHPMyAdmin; after you have downloaded this you should be able to restore it in PHPMyAdmin. It should be easy to get your web files from your current server via FTP; you can upload them straight away via FTP to the Windows server.
Yes, you can reffer to this forum subject in your support ticket. It may also be an idea to paste your TicketID here as it may aid with faster reply and make it easier for the system admins.
Good lucky with transferring and getting your website hosting running.

Yes, we have received your ticket & are currently working it. As your total account backup is huge in space, it'll take sometime for the files to be downloaded on our server. We'll reply back to your ticket once it's finished properly. I hope everything goes smooth....

Glad to see that you are having a good experience with eUKhost and their support. I am sure you will also be very satisfied with their hosting. Good luck with completing your website hosting transfer and do tell us how you get on with your website hosting .

Just create all the databases you need and then assign the one username you have created to them all.
Don't try and create the same username again as that will result in error.
Hope that helps

Hello Nishant,
You should be able to do this by creating and assigning the same user to each newly created database through the create database wizard in plesk. I suggest you to give it a try again. In case that doesn't works, simply place a ticket to the support team from http://support.eukhost.com and they will get it done for you from the server.

This can't be done from the Plesk Control Panel itself. You'd need to provide us the details (in the ticket) in order to get the user assigned to multiple databases.

Sorry, haven't got a lot of experience with Plesk (mainly use cPanel) so I wasn't aware that this feature was lacking . Oh well you learn something new everyday! - And good luck with your ticket - do keep us informed.
