Agusta server http going down
Is anyone else having problems with the agusta server at the minute? In the last week, the http seems to have gone down about 4 times while all the other services are running fine. I've spoken to tech support and they're supposedly monitoring it but it went down again last night and all I seemed to get was that "the server keeps getting a high load and to reduce it we stop the http service". Now, it may be just me, but I would have thought keeping http up would have been a priority so that people could see your website hostings....? The fact it's done it so much in the last week makes me wondered what's causing the high load and why it hasn't been solved yet?

A rogue cron job maybe? Is there a certain time at which it keeps going down, if so what is this time?

I am aware of this problem with 2 of our servers. http service goes down and fails to restart automatically.
NickJ is looking into it and he will implement some solution to fix this problem permanently.

Well that was my first thoughts but there's been no pattern to it. It went down on Wednesday 12:30am, Wednesday 6:50am, Thursday 4pm, Friday 5:45pm and 2am today. So I'm not sure what's causing it but I would like to at least know what the underlying problem is.....

Cheers Mark,
You beat me to replying as I was looking up all the times. It's just useful to know what's gone on as then I'm more happy knowing that it's being sorted and you know what the problem is. Today I just got something about server having a high load when I asked tech support...

Basically cPanel has got chkservd service which restarts any downed service automtically every minute. NickJ found something wrong with http service on your server and he has got it sorted.
chkservd was failing to restart http automatically so hopefully there should be no problem. I am not sure why it should go down in first place but lets wait and see how things go from here onwards.

The website hostings all went down again today and didn't come up automatically. Luckily I was at home and as soon as I got the first monitoring email, I was straight onto tech support and told them to restart the service. Any more ideas about solutions to this?

This does seem like a strange one. Is there a particular IP / spider / attack that is overloading these servers and targetting them specifically?

Nope there isn't any such spider/attach going on sever. Also, I checked the respective log files but didn't noticed any such failure alert recorded.
I am still monitoring it and will keep you updated in this thread.

Thanks for that NickJ - I'm sure you've put peoples minds at rest who are on that server. It does seem a strange problem!

My thoughts exactly.... Hence the questioning. It does make me feel clever though when I go to support and can tell them exactly what to do to fix the problem. Lol.

Apache service failed on Agusta once again today and I am irritated with this problem. I have requested available senior technical staff members to give a solution or else I will have to look into it.

Does Apache need repairing on that server? I'm sure I've seen an option somewhere for that.

I had spotted it went down as I got my notificaiton emails but it was back online by the time I got home so I didn't have to raise anything. Even though it's going down, I'm still happy as you're looking into it! WHOOO!

Any close to working out what's causing the problem? I haven't noticed any downtime in the last 36 hours or so which is better even if not cured...
