Creating Cron jobs

I'm probably being stupid but I don't seem to be able to get a Cron job to run a particular PHP script once a day.

I have messed around with a number of permutations in Cpanel but I keep either getting "no such file or directory" or "permission denied"

Can someone please tell me how to run a particular script in a directory below /public_html as I guess I am missing some critical component in the directory structure. I tried searching the forums and to be honest the posts I found confused me more than I already was

Excellent, thank you very much. It looks like it might have been the leading php missing causing the problem.

I'll find out in the morning once the cron has run overnight.

Hope it ran for you! - cron jobs are always tricky for me to work out too - I like it when they are set up automatically!

Well it didn't error which is a good start

Would I expect to see the output from the PHP script in the Cron email if I told it to print out at the end of the script, at present it's a silent script?

In the meantime I will keep an eye on the section this PHP script is supposed to update and see what happens.

you can put your email address in the cron setup wizard and it will email you if cron fails to execute.

This is how I have it set up - it is a lot more reassuring to know that you will get an email should anything go wrong rather than it just crash and burn on its own!
