Please open a ticket with support@eukhost.com. eUKhost normally have monthly back-ups, as well as weekly and daily, so you should have no trouble there. You should also keep a back-up copy of your website hosting yourself. I wish you all the luck in getting your website hosting back online.

You should have done it origionally, when you first put your website hosting online, most people do.

Still, no excuse for not keeping a simple local back-up.

From experience forums have their own 'export database' facility inbuilt, or atleast all I've used have. Failing that it's possible to export specific databases (not the same as "home directory backup" option). This is usually fairly quick and easy and ensures your forum database is backed up, I'm assuming your forum doesn't use DBM text files.

The 'structure' of the website hosting can be manually stored/backed up via FTP, I believe what 'flesso' was refering to. (The forum software I use has a nice option to tar up a copy of every file in the forum, making for an easy download of only a couple files.)

As a general rule of thumb, make a weekly database backup, and each time you modify the website hosting files keep a local backup. It seems like a rather boring task to regularly do but from experience it saves for a lot of headaches when something goes wrong. The good news is from recollection eUKHost do make/keep their own backups.

I personally don't think I've ever used the 'home directory backup', in part as I have a local copy of all files and also as it doesn't backup the all important databases.

i did do weekly db backups, but i decided to backup actual files as i spent tons of hours modding the forum ( yer about 300 mods ) at the age of 17 im quite good at certain things, made 100s of website hostings, modded tons of forums, made/setup my own linux/windows server 2003 server, good theme maker, good php/html scripter, done a bit of programing, have a full game server running my own game script (200 player server had to close 2days ago, bills ) etc ( my parents say i should be working for mi5 lmao! )
Did have my own freesms website hosting, was going good 800 members, had to close tho (me = jobless bum ) :S

Yet cant find any decent jobs, my last job as i told mark was literately slaves wages, plus was nights £3.20 an hour

Glad to see that you managed to get your website hosting back online.

Also, £3.20 per hour is illegal!! (About £4.85 is around the minimum wage for 16-18 year olds)

thats really sad to see how our young guys need to work for such low £'s but if you complaint then you don't get even that as well

I really don't know why this has been a policy of employers to employ young people and pay them such low hourly rate. It would be much better to start something on your own and earn as per your hard work.

If the DWP (Department for Work and Pensions) got a hold of them they would be facing criminal charges and potentially having their business shutdown.

Breaking the National Minimum Wage (NMW) rules is seen as a serious offence.

I am quite sure that no documentation must have been done in case of Michael's employment. They must have given verbal assurance of so said amount and he must have agreed to it.

No one can sue them if there was no such documentation.

I understand that but the way the DWP get them in that way is by sending in an undercover officer who works for them that are paid a one off fee to try and gain a job there (there are some under 16 and some 16-18 some 18+). It goes along the same idea as the "Mystery Shopper" that catch shops selling cigerettes and alcohol to underage people.

The minimum wage for 16-17 year olds is £3.30 per hour. On October 2007 this will increase to £3.40. No employer is allowed to set an hourly rate that is not within the National Minimum Wage. You'd have to check www.direct.gov.uk for accurate information regarding the National Minimum Wage Act, however.

Yeah it is. If you worked 40 hours a week at £3.30 you'd get a gross pay £528 per month and that isn't a lot indeed.

Then again it does encourage you to go to college and Uni and do something constructive with your life.

I think the reason for such a low amount in my NMW Act is to encourage you not leave school at 16 .
