there's absolutely nothing wrong on Viking right now. please check the same from your end. If you still cannot connect to the ftp server then open a ticket for our support team.

Could have just been a temporary problem. Seen as though your post was a couple of days ago have you checked again since?

the problem has started again. after a long evening with Tech Support who assured me they could connect via Ftp while I could not. Now after a using FTP yesterday, (bear in mind nothing has been changed) tonight I can't. yet I can access via ftp some webspace that comes with my ISP package. yet I cannot connect to either of my domains hosted by euk.
I have cuteftp and filezilla the later using the automatic settings download from the control panel. I have opened ports 21 on my nat firewall
I am at a loss, and please forgive if I don't open another ticket to sit through exactly the same results.

There were FTP problems caused a while back with the "Passive FTP" setting. I think it was activated when it shouldn't have been. I know it is a bit of a stab in the dark but you seem pretty desperate .

Seems like you have an intermittant FTP fault. Seems strange - but at least it is working for you now .

Could be the server firewall blocking your IP from ftpd due to failed login attempts.

That was me when I had the same problem of intermittant access. The solution was to set 'passive transfer mode' to "Use passive mode"

Yes, never had to do this in the past. God knows what changed? What is the difference between passive and non passive mode?

Oh well it cant be anything that major then!! I just assume it is a different way of connecting to the FTP server and obviously at the moment its prefering a passive connection .
