.htaccess files not visible in either cuteftp or cpanel control panel
I have been trying to set up OScommerce but as registered globals is set to off as default I have to edit the .htacces files. Only trouble is I can't see any of them!?! if I do a search via the File Manager in cpanel it says it has found some in various places but I cannot see them when I go look ?! also the are not visible via CuteFTP (
How can I stop them from being hidden ?
OK, live chat has sorted the problem out for me (in cuteFTP at least)
I had to add "-a" in the remote filters settings.
Apparently the file Manager not seeing the .htaccess files is a problem with the new cpanel
If I ever need to change mine, I use ftp and do it from there but with the current restrictions, that may not be possible. They might be visible from the new web disk feature in the new CPanel though....
If you don't have the new skin yet, you could look at setting up a network place in windows (you'll need frontpage extensions installed on the server I think). If you display hidden files, the .htaccess files might be there but I can't say for certain as I can't check that on the PC I'm currently on.

I had the same problem via cPanel after a renamed a file to .htaccess and it just disappeared. Maybe they will fix it in an update soon although they may not count it as a huge problem.
Using a third party FTP client is a lot faster than the file manager anyway, and is the better choice, especially when making frequent or large changes.
