Installing Wordpress blog with Fantastico
Hi to all !
I've just purchased a shared hosting service and I immediately went to create my wordpress blog. It was the first time I used Fantastico to install it.
Very simple and intuitive.
I change the index.php name to oldindex.php and I start with Fantastico.
First step, I leave empty to install in the main dir:
Second step, all OK:
All successful. I write my email address to receive a report
Finished OK
Now I go to my website and all seems OK. There's the blog and I start to write when I realize I cannot create new categories. I cannot do it neither when I write a new post or when I use the specific Management page.
I created a demo account with extensive powers if you want to try:
http://durchbrechen.com/wp-login.php
username: newuser
password: demo
It seems Fantastico doesn't succeed to install all that's necessary. But there aren't error messages.
In the cpanel error log by now I only see search engines failed attempts fo find robot.txt
HELP ! What's wrong ?
Many thanks
Paolo

Hello Paolo,
Please try now. I've managed to sort the problem and I was able to add a new Category and 1 new post as well.
It was due to one rule in mod_security which has been removed now.

Thanks Mark,
I've another little problem.
In all styles RSS, syndication works in this form only : http://durchbrechen.com/wp-rss.php
So I tried to edit the themes from WP control panel to change RSS links, and for doing this I had to change files permissions with the cpanel. But....
Cpanel does not accept my change permission orders .... They come back quickly to 0644.
regards
Paolo

Same problem here
hi all
rather than start a new thread can I piggy back this discussion - i originally posted to the wordpress forum yesterday but haven't been given a steer from there yet.
whenever i save after adding a link or image wordpress directs firefox to my home page. when i go back to the edit page the changes i made can either still be showing or have disappeared.
this also happens when i add a "more" or put text in italics
the account is theohudson.com and the blog is situated at
kirkworld.com/glastoblog
i'd appreciate your help if it's simply a case of changing mod_security

I think it may be just a case of changing the mod_security rules. It sounds like problems other people have had in the past with being redirected to their home page and the culprit has been mod_security.

DesperateDad, now I've tried to do the same thing. I didn't do it before because I've just created the blog.
It happens exactly the same to me !
I bet you have the same problem if you try to edit and save a file from the wp-panel.
I had to modify the files on my pc and then upload them, but I cannot do it with the wp-panel.
Then this is a common issue.
I've changed permissions to all my files to 0777 but nothing ........
cheers

Like I said, recent updates to the security rules could have caused this. They are normally the culprit when it comes to things like scripts such as Wordpress and Joomla.

Thanks David. I don't even know which these rules are but I hope they will be fixed soon.
I guess it is not a thing you can do by yourself in the cPanel
cheers

Some members of the eUKhost team, such as Mark, do read hear quite regularly as well as some of the system admins and other members of the team but the fastest way to get help with your problem when it is something like this is to open a ticket regarding it.
It won't take them long to solve it if it is something to do with the mod_security rules .
