Default mail servers down

Hi,
My outgoing mail server has been down for an hour, and the pop server has just stopped working. I have opened a ticket but your support claims it is fine. IT ISN"T!!! I am not the only one of my users with this problem. PLEASE get them to help me.

Try logging into cPanel and see what the service status is in there. Might give you more idea of what is happening.... If it says ok, then it could be something on your account but it would seem odd that it would just stop suddenly...

Is your outgoing mail server using [server name].eukhost.com or mail.[your website hosting]? Often outgoing mail servers used are your ISP, which is not connected to eUKhost. Sometimes the ISP / internet connection can cause emails not to send and receive. The server status page has an row for 'pop' which should indicate if there is a problem with the server.

Have EUKhost changed ports from 26 to 25 recently for smtp? Because that seems to work.

By standard, eUKhost runs two copies of Exim on ports 25 and 26.

firefly.

Thanks
Oh by the way, the way I discovered I could use port 25 was I telnetted to 110 to check the pop, then to 26 which timed out, then to 25 which worked.

Better than the ticket support who all said that I was wrong, and now you've sorted it.

I bow before you.
