Default Mailman Hosting request emails

I'm having a bit of a puzzling issue at the minute with mailman... I used to be able to simply send an email to listname-request@domain.com and the server would send out the email to me for what I'd asked e.g. for SUBSCRIBE in the subject line, it would send out a confirmation email, for WHO it would tell me who was in the list etc. Now, I've tried on two completely seperate systems (one being eUKhost and the other a uni one) and this doesn't seem to work anymore.... Now it seems odd to me that both servers don't work any more. Has anyone else noticed things like that? Has anything in mailman changed?

If tech support people are interested, the lists I tried with you are test@checker-design.com and test@jcrass.co.uk, both on the Agusta server.... Tried to do subscribe requests to them both and got no response from the server... It must have got the email as I didn't get a "failed delivery message"...

I run 3 mailman lists on my website hosting and they have all stopped working from around the end of August

any email sent to them simply disappears down a black hole somewhere

I am having someone to look into this problem but you should consider phplist or some other php based mailing list to avoid problems with mailman. seems like some changes have happened to mailman with cpanel update but I need to wait for further information from our technical people.

I'm not sure if you can get it to do everything automatically by email can you? That's one of the good things about mailman. I have used phpList before but it was mainly because I wanted to put html headers on the messages.

Ah right, not too sure on that point. It works for what I want it for. And it was the first one I used so I'm not sure about the difference between that and others such as mailman.

Mailman is handy for setting up distribution lists which a lot of people can post to. They email a certain address and then the email will be sent out to people in that list. These posts can be moderated or unmoderated depending on what they're being used for and you can also strip the headers out etc. It's handy for things like societies and committees as you can have one moderated and the other unmoderated which saves you typing 20+ email addresses for committee members.

Hello,

Yes, mailman list is very handy for setting up distribution of emails over societies and committees. you can also moderate the list as per your requirement.

Just to follow this up, I think mailman is starting to play up again on agusta. It took 12 hours on Thursday night/Friday morning to send out an email to a distribution list....
