Default More problems with EUKHost than any other Host

I have to say that I am getting fed up with the problems I keep facing with EUKHost and fear that if my problem is not resolved I will leave them completely. Last year the server crashed and I lost a months worth of posts on my forum. I have had more issues with the DNS and nameservers being incorrect, a badly configured SSH certificate. Bad communication and awful sales. Now I put these down to teething problems, but this is beyond a joke. My website www.deanrichardson.com is down and because of this I have lost a very important email that may cost me my new job....and a lot of money.

I have raised a ticket, but I think it is too late, so my optimism and trust in EUKHost has finally hit rock bottom. Sorry guys, but enough is enough!

My ticket number is DNS-88355-424

Dean Richardson.

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear of your issues we pride ourselves in customer relations therefore can assure you this issue will be resolved as a matter of urgency.

Server crashes we can't be held directly responsible for as you know computers crash and it isn't your fault. I apologize deeply for your loss and suggest using back systems to ensure this does not occur in the future.

I do apologize for the issues and can assure you our team are working hard to resolve this matter.

Kind Regards

Robert

Hello Dean,

The server on which your website is hosted was migrated on Sunday night. Notifications had been sent in this regard. Your data has been moved. Jason.S. is already working on your website.

Will keep you posted.

Thank you.

Many thanks guys. There is one thing that keeps me with EUKHost and that is the prompt-ness of the support. The emails have filtered through thankfully.

Thanks,
Dean Richardson

I'm afraid I have to agree with the OP - liverpool is down, yet again. I've submitted a ticket - but unfortunately, the support desk has my domain email address (the one that isn't working), and there's no option to change email address on the support system, is there?
Anyway, for the umpteenth time:

win11.eukdns.com returned (NORECORDS)
win12.eukdns.com returned (NORECORDS)

Ok, so fixed now, but the response from Eukhost -

Quote:
The TXT Key added in your DNS was not allow Named to read your zone and hence the site as well as emails were down for your domain. I have removed it and your site is working fine now.
So. my question is - given that ONLY eukhost can change my DNS records WHY THE B**DY H**L WAS THIS CHANGED?, WHY WAS IT CHANGED SO THAT IT BROKE MY DOMAIN? AND WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS FOR ITS REMOVAL? - In other words - what's going to break next beacuse this was removed?

Yes, I realise I'm shouting but I am SO ANGRY that eukhost are so incompetent as to make these changes to a domain that was working perfectly before, so as to break the domain. This is not just run of the mill technical failures, or bad luck, this is out and out reckless incompetence!

Those records were added 2 weeks back and DNS service had no errors when it was restarted after TXT records were inserted. I am not sure why suddenly your domain had such problem but there was absolutely nothing wrong on Liverpool.

Email service is stable now on all our windows servers so it would be better if you allow us to move your mail service back on liverpool again. You are facing problems due to this custom mail solution and it would be better if we make setup of your account as all other customers have.

Those darn gremlins again!

Your answer doesn't gel - "I'm not sure why your domain had this problem" - "There was absolutely nothing wrong on Liverpoiol" - "email service is now stable".

Doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. If you remember, mail didn't work properly before it was moved to viking - now it's broken again - you don't know why but you want to move it back to liverpool? In this instance, it wasn't just mail that was broken on liverpool - my sites were down too - AND the mail domain ON LIVERPOOL.
So how exactly will moving my mail domain BACK to liverpool solve a problem WITH LIVERPOOL?

Sorry, I've had enough. I've given eukhost plenty of chances. Please leave things as they are while I arrange an alternative hosting company.

no problem. We wont change anything unless you request to do so.

Cancellation requests are processed by our billing department only so no one else will change anything until and unless you request to do so.

You are most welcome to add me in your MSN or AIM. I hate to see anyone cancel for such reasons and most important thing is that you wont find any better windows hosting provider in UK. Take a break and we can discuss tomorrow.

Mark,
You've experienced the string of problems that I've had with eukhost - and I've not even been here a year as yet. For me, reliability and consistency is the definition of good hosting.
What would you do in my position?
Anyway, I'll leave it until Monday for now - John has promised me an explanation from Martin. We'll see if that makes any sense at all.

Hello Nige,

Did you manage to find a better host? I think I may be joining you at switching hosts.

I've just recently added a shopping cart for my business to my site, and everytime EUKHost 'fiddle' and the site goes down, I lose a lot of business.

Are there any Service Levels that EUKHost are meant to keep to? Or is there a package with EUKHost that has guaranteed uptime?

I dont see the point in paying £40 in a SSL certificate for a website which is always up and down. I dont also see the point in having an active forum, when the members are constantly complaining that they cannot connect due to incorrect NS config or that the site is down completely. The amount of updates done to my site over the last couple of months has been zero. This is because I am too busy raising those damn tickets or expecting any changes made to the site to be lost within a week due to 'Faulty Hard Drives' or 'Incorrect Configuration' or 'CPanel Upgrades'. Even emails are touch and go, but I just hope that I'm getting them all.

How much is it to ask that I be located on a 'Stable' server that requires no config changes? I used to recommend EUKHost to people not so long ago, now it seems that EUKHost has lost their way and I now tell people to shop around.

Even with the billing, they fail to remind me to renew my domain name with the registrars through them, it was by chance that I checked my WHOIS records to notice that my domain expired next week. If I hadn't checked, someone else could have had it by now.

I do feel very disappointed with EUKHost.

LD.

ledeanio,

If you are facing so many problems then why don't you consider our Business plan or a Dedicated Server ?

I am quite sure that anyone can afford to pay £19 per month rather than loosing hours in opening tickets and chat communication.

Sorry to hear about your problems Nige and ledeanio. As Josh has said, the business plan guarentees 100% uptime which I am sure would improve your situation and also I can personally vouch that there is good uptime if you have your own server - after all, you are in control of everything then . I hope that you don't encounter anymore problems .

flesso,
Not been on the forums since the last issue - Until today everything's been ok with eukhost - So a month and a bit clear of problems. I decided to give eukhost one last chance, but have a list of (admittedly more expensive) hosts ready to switch to. Will just have to see how the latest ticket gets responded to!

I've been on shared hosting for less than a year, and have not been hugely impressed by eukhost's "start a fire and then put it out quickly" approach (see my other posts). I don't believe any "100% uptime" claims, so I'm not sure that spending more money on eukhost would actually be of benefit. It's a confidence thing (i.e: my consumer confidence in eukhost as a company is quite low).
And if I needed "my own server", then I'd have my own server.
