Default MYSQL Needing a restart again?

The problem I experienced last week with mySQL PHP pages not rendering turning out by admission on this forum to be a failed restart of the MySQL server. A mistake you really would expect to happen again? Well, it seems to have happened again. A very frustrating problem and I'm hoping my ticket is answered in better time than the 6 hours and longer waits that I was having last week.

sorry for the delay - I went away to wait lol

here's the number #AQX-62606-340

I hope something can be sorted - its now four hours and not a peep from support. The websites still can't find database. Four hours is a very long time for any website to be down and this is becoming far too common.

Jack is working on your ticket.

We are trying to improve our response time for windows hosting tickets but its Sunday today and 50% of our staff has weekly off so response time may not be good today.

Ok - well it's late here so I'll hope to see everything fine by the morning - but please don't let anyone send a response to my ticket like the ones I normally get e.g. "all websites are working fine." I would like to have a breakdown of what the problem was and an assurance that it won't be repeated. I appreciate the workload of your support staff but there are times when I'm sure if my ticket is read properly the solution would be arrived at much faster. Anyhow - lets see what tomorrow brings.

Thanks for your swift response on this forum by the way - it's appreciated.

Problem has been resolved and for once I got an explanation - well done support! Somebody's script was overloading the MySQL database making too many connections. I'm pleased in a way that it was a problem that couldn't be helped until it happened - so fingers crossed that this won't happen again.

good to hear that.

Problem with windows servers is that you need to do everything manually like monitoring, troubleshooting and load balancing. On cpanel servers you have a web based frontend for monitoring and various scripts available for automated load balancing and notifications through emails and sound.

None of the control panel development companies have put much efforts in development of a good windows control panel to compete with cpanel and this lack of initiative from online community makes windows look weak infront of cpanel.

Hopefully eUKhost would be able to implement some high level automation in windows to avoid such problems.

Looks like I spoke too soon. MySQL pages are once again not rendering - so the assurance that this was not going to happen again was somewhat empty. If this carries on I will have to look for another host - which is a shame but I can't have my websites going down every couple of days.

Same problem here - and we've had a ticket raised since 10 this morning... (so half way in to the 6 hour resolution time then... )

well, its working again - but I think I'm considered too stupid to warrant a decent explanation as to why it was down. My MSN support reply was, "the mysql is working fine on this server.
" Well, that helps!. I like to know why things weren't working - if I don;t get a decent explanation then I move hosts as I can only assume there is repetition of a problem. However, an explanation might inform me that these 'outages' are unrelated and tempt me to remain with eukHost a little longer. Now that would be support!

You can ask for explanation in ticket as livechat staff don't have access to Remote Access on windows servers. Only working through helpdesk know whats wrong with which service and they can give you proper explanation.

Setup of a new plesk server is on its way so I can provide you with an option to move your accounts on plesk. HostingController seems to be spoiling our name and its better to end this relationship with hostingcontroller sooner than later.

I'm happy to move over to plesk - I'm more used to it anyway - even though I've now gotten used to HC. But do you think that HC is having an affect on the MySQL servers? Also, would a migration to Plesk have any affect on hosting login details and login-URL?

P.S. - That's fair comment about lack of info from Live-Support, I wasn't aware of their lack of access to that info.

login URL will change but username and password will be same.

HostingController seems to messup soon as lack of documentation and support from the makers of hostingcontroller makes it really difficult to troubleshoot. Some of our existing windows plesk server are up and running for more than 2 years and it seems like customers have forgotten us.

I know that we have some highly talented people in our windows department but they cannot customize a third party software on windows. If hostingcontroller has problems in its code then they are bound to get frustrated and customers as well.

Glad to see it's fixed now, but does it really take 3 hours restart the MySQL server?

It takes less than 1 minute to restart MySQL service if restart is the only thing that needs to be done.

There must have been something else which needed to be sorted before MySQL could be restarted.
