Default OpenX - ftp_connect() error

1) Domain Name:
stneotsfc.com

2) Server Name and IP address:
typhoon

3) Description of problem:
It would appear that now when attempting to access parts of the adminCP of OpenX the following error has started occurring...
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare ftp_connect() in /home/stneotsf/public_html/ads/www/admin/lib-ftp.inc.php on line 55

4) Anything you might have done which may have caused the problem:
Nothing, it had been working fine.

5) Anything you have done already, to try and resolve the problem:
Viewed the OpenX support forums and there's no obvious patch, however it suggests PHP ftp_connect may have been disabled by the host.

6) Any additional information you think is relevant:
If ftp_connect has recently been disabled is there any way to enable it via htaccess or similar so that it can run in the folder where OpenX is installed? Thankfully at present the only banners running our 'in house' however long term there may be paid banner ads on the site.

Hello Eidolon,

The PHP function ftp_connect() as well as other php-FTP functions are disabled on server and its not possible to enable it under shared environment.

You cannot override the php parameter disable_function via .htaccess.

The reason behind these functions being disabled server wide is due to the fact that the server may be prone/vulnerable to several attacks including FTP Injections & SQL Injections. The following FTP functions are disabled on our Linux shared servers:
Quote:
ftp_exec ftp_connect, ftp_login, ftp_get, ftp_put, ftp_nb_fput, ftp_raw & ftp_rawlist
A complete list can be found by using a phpinfo(). After all... your data's security is the first & main point of concern for us..

I appreciate security is important, it's just an inconveniance when such security changes occur some time after you've managed to install & initally set up the software fine and have it running. I'll ask on OpenX if there is a method which doesn't use those FTP commands, though a search reveal nobody replied to a similar question.

On a related note is anyone able to recommend an alternative advertising software, which would work without needing to use the disabled comands?
