Question oscommerce Hosting

Ok well...Hello

I signed up with eUKhost about 2 days ago, so that i could transfer my 3 domains over and host my website hostings, i have had one website hosting hosted at another company but due to charges..time for a change.

Anyway, so i get into my control panel...and wow......loads of buttons but i have no idea what i am suppose to do with any of them or where to start, i know i must sound thick but i am no good at setting up althought i do get better when up and running...lol

I am designing my own website hosting with Dreamweaver, have bought windows sliver, have a domain set up for hosting, and i know i need oscommerce.....what should i do first ..please help..

was thinking that i need to set up a database first?

Thank you for reading

and thank you in advance for any help given

TJS

Hello tjs,

Hope you have received FTP login details. You can use those details to upload your website hosting. You will need to upload your web contents inside the www directory and connect using FTP login information. If you have plesk as a control panel , there you have an option of application vault. In application vault you have ready made scripts for OScommerce.

You need to create the database user and database before installing osCommerce. So just click on MySQL Server databases (1 st icon in the database section). Create new database then create new database user. Add user to database. And that's all for the db part.

Now give these parameters when installing the osCommerce.

If you were on Linux it would be a few clicks in Fantastico and it would be done!

There are tutorials on cPanel located here: http://www.eukhost.com/support/cpanel.php. However please note this is for x2 cPanel, so simply change to that cPanel style and then get to know where everything is. Once you know where everything is it won't be much of a problem getting to know where everything is on x3.

Ben, he has already mentioned he is on a windows server. cPanel is not for Windows, and has only been made for unix platforms.

I was just going to say that I doubted he would be using cPanel on a Windows Silver hosting plan!!

Maybe these links would be more useful - The Plesk control panel tutorials are http://www.eukhost.com/support/plesk-tutorial.php and I assume you will be on a Plesk server as Mark has said in the past that all new Windows based accounts have been being created on a Plesk server.

Hope that helps .

If you're using OSCommerce, why are you using a Windows account? You'd be better off on Linux, since MySQL and PHP are more suited for a Linux environment.

you dont need to login in any sort of SSH window to manage Linux based account. We provide cpanel control panel on our Linux Servers and cpanel is the best control panel in the world as of now.

let me know if you wish to get your account moved on cpanel server and I will have that done. You had mentioned need for MS Access and Microsoft SQL Server at the time of signup and thats the reason I recommended windows plan to you.

make sure that you get your nameservers changed from your existing registrar for the 2 domains which have not got transferred to us so far.

New nameservers have been sent to you in welcome email. You should find some good scripts available in Fantastico section of your cpanel control panel which will allow you to install oscommerce with 2 - 3 clicks.
