Default Outgoing email problem

Hi Guys the lunatic from Spain is back. Ok so I have been offline for two months, I had the very nice techno guys from telefonica install everything( not like we needed it) but hey that was good. Now my outgoing mail is not sending, incoming is cool. I hasten to add I did not leave Spain I just spent a few months on the coast where I used to live.

Question I have to ask is there a problem here or do I need to hang the telefonica engineer?

Mucho Gracias!

Please provide us with the IP address or the website address to your website.

The most likely situation is your ISP (telefonica) is blocking port 25. I do believe eUKhost run another copy of the mail server on port 26, so if you change the port number to 26, you probably won't experience any problems.

What mail server are you using ?
I was using my ISP's mail server with problems a while back so mail.domain.com .net or whater is what you use.

I have been doing a few checks and it would appear that it has nothing to do with you guys it is the line or the router. I can download fine but upload is a huge problem. I rang the technical dept of the ISP Telefonica and although I do speak spanish they insist that the call is made by a native speaker , and then hung up on me.

My daughter is going to ring them this afternoon, and show them the level of her language skills Trust me they will realise that it would have been a better idea to talk to me in the first place, because and 18 year old who cannot get onto her msn is not going to take any prisoners.....lol, and her spanish is first class.

Don't know if this will help - but a few of my customers who use AOL as their ISP had a similar problem - they could recieve but not send. I solved the problem by using port 26 for the outgoing mail (not the default 25).
Not sure if that port is enabled for mail on your server (I'm on a VPS so could enable it myself) - but it might be worth a try

Hi

Thanks for that. I have already done that, but still no joy it has to be down to the line or the router. I have tried some of the speed tests available on the internet and whilst I get a good download speed, I have yet to find one that can actually register my upload speed as it does not seem to exist....lol

I will insist that they send out a technician so he can see first hand what the problem is, how long that might take is anyone's guess, as Telefonica are not too hot on customer service, in fact I would go as far as to say Telefonica and customer service are never used in the same sentence.

You will be pleased to hear the problem has been sorted out and from what we can gather it was some sort of a problem at the exchange. We phone the engineer direct, and he agreed to come back and have a look. He spent about 15 mins and sorted the problem out and now all is well. I can now not only receive email but reply to it too...lol

Ah, the joy of ISPs always blaming things on other people and not themselves. It's amusing to see it's the same from country to country!
