1) Domain Name: ectonvillage.co.uk morethanmeetstheeye.net hocus.org meetstheeye.co.uk
2) Server Name and IP address: firefly 91.186.0.2
3) Description of problem:I have a php program that has worked for over a year which suddenly is giving me errors, Have you changed the PHP version? I thought I signed up for a newsletter to tell me if any changes were going to happen
4) Anything you might have done which may have caused the problem: No
5) Anything you have done already, to try and resolve the problem:Nothing
6) Any additional information you think is relevant:PHP seems to suddenly hate fsockopen.
Please let me know what's happening.

Hi Vickie,
I've had a look through your web site hosting (I'm not tech support mind) but I couldn't see it throwing up any errors.... Is it somewhere specifically where the problem is?

This is a little program I run from the web to check my email, and I don't really want to make it public. I've just been looking at the error -
Warning: fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]: php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known in /home/morethan/public_html/***this is the php file name******
Warning: fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]: unable to connect to mail.hocus.org:110 (Unknown error) in /home/morethan/public_html/***this is the php file name******
And googling this error indicates that someone on the admin side may have changed my hosts file so that my mail server is not resolving correctly. (I don't quite understand what this means)

Other googling of this indicates that the problem is a DNS issue a missing DNS file causing the mailhandler to fail.
" This error is produced when PHP is not able to access an "external source". In other work the fsock cannot open a socket to the server you are trying to connect to.
There can be several reasons. Do you get this error on a dedicated server or shared hosting?
Usually it's a DNS resolving problem. If you are on a dedicated server, verify your DNS settings are correct."
This program has been working for me until a half hour ago. I really think this is an admin mistake. Please, can you fix this?

If it's urgent Vickie, I would suggest you go through livechat on the main eUKhost website hosting or submit a support ticket via email (support [@] eUKhost.com). I've been reading many other things it could be so it will probably be best to use one for the methods I've just mentioned to get it sorted.

PHP_SUEXEC was enabled on firefly 3 - 4 weeks back so it seems to be something to do with php_suexec. You will need to open a ticket for our support team from http://support.eukhost.com as I am not able to get much information from error logs on the server. You will need to specify exact URL where you are getting this error.

If it is a problem with the DNS Vickie, replacing the domain name with the IP of the server "should" (don't hold me to that) sort it.... But as Mark says, you're probably best getting in touch with support.

It could be DNS, something firewall related or a typo (unlikely as it worked before!)
Support can change the DNS for you. If that is the problem then they'll sort it but if it's something else they'll also sort that. I would suggest emailing/opening a ticket rather than livechat as this does seem a bit of a strange one. This way it can get passed to higher level admins if necessary.

those errors you have included in your first post are php related so we need to check logs for your domain so figure out this problem.

Experience is always the way forward. And if that doesn't help, Google's always there as a backup!

It did mentioned something like that actually. But to be honest, most of it was above my head with not dealing with this sort of stuff normally!
