Default Posting image problem with B2Evo

1) Domain Name: www.barrowaydrove.org

2) Server Name and IP address: Viking 91.186.0.3

3) Description of problem: Unable to post images into B2 Evolution is how the problem started but it seems any HTML tags cause the problem. I can post to B2Evo without any issues unless I try and use any markup. This is using the inbuilt tools for images or explicitly entering TAGs. When I try and preview the post it shows the old posts but not the new. If I save the post it takes me back to the blog without the new post. I tried installing Wordpress, believing this might be a B2Evo problem (been investigating it on their forums) and it seems to suffer the same problem.

4) Anything you might have done which may have caused the problem: Nothing, as far as I know it's never worked

5) Anything you have done already, to try and resolve the problem: I have been on the B2Evo support boards, no luck from anyone there. I tried Wordpress to see if that would be okay and migrate, similar if not the same problem there.

6) Any additional information you think is relevant: None that I can think of, I am now thinking I am misconfigured somehow. It's possibly something simple I need to change in .htaccess but for the life of me I don't know what.

Any help would be appreciated.

Tim

I'm not sure on this one Tim. It might be worth contacting support directly either through Livechat or email as they may be able to shed more light on it.

Sounds a bit like a mod_sec problem. Have you tried disabling mod_security? If you don't know how disable mod_sec then please look here: mod_security Fix

Hello twiseman,

The problem was due to the mod_security module installed on the server which blocks PHP/HTML codes matching its rules. I have now disabled the same for your account through the .htaccess file and you should not face the problem any more. The code below can be safe entered in the .htaccess file whenever such a problem occurs :

=======================================

<IfModule mod_security.c>
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off
</IfModule>

=======================================

Regards,
Steve

Confirmed, with the Mod Security disabled the images work just fine. Thank you for the quick response.

A lot of Fantastico software, particularly CMSes have problems with mod_security. You've got to weigh up what you need more - security or to use a piece of software.
