Shared SSL for Website

Hi,
I have turned on Shared SSL on my Windows Bronze account, and accepted the defaults. After uploading a page to httpsdocs and using the default virtual directory provided, the https website hosting works when typing https://www.<mydomain>.co.uk/<mydomain>_co_uk

great!

However, if I type https://www.<mydomain>.co.uk I get to the default Plesk home page for eurofighter.eukhosts.com. Clearly the server my domain is on, and using the shared certificate.

Question, since it is more likely that people will type https://www.<mydomain>.co.uk is it possible to detect and re-direct it somehow to the working virtual directory, https://www.<mydomain>.co.uk/<mydomain>_co_uk

We have disabled client access over shared SSL and therefore you do not see an option to enable it from your control panel.

However if you let us know your domain name we can get it sorted for you.

Hi John,

Your ticket has been replied. Here is the extract.

You won't be able to use the redirect on https://www.domain.com/ as it's using the server's (Plesk) default certificate.
I'd strongly recommend you to purchase a dedicated SSL for domain.com inorder to over come any such problems.
A shared SSL is a shared server certificate, which isnt required to be purchased by the client, ie: it's absolutely free to use.
A shared SSL is setup on a domain which can be used as : https://serverIP/domain_com/ or https://domain.com/domain_com/ or https://domain.com/any_thing/
But as I stated earlier, it isnt possible to redirect https://www.domain.com/ to https://www.domain.com/domain_com/
as doing that will affect all the domains hosted on the server using the shared SSL, hence redirecting all of them to https://www.domain.com/domain_com/

That seems the most sensible approach. Also don't forget on your main page (unencrypted) at http://www.domain.com you could have a link for secure access to the shared SSL directory and get your users into the habit of visiting your domain and then electing to go into the secure directory - I have seen many website hostings do this and many systems use this technique - for example if you login to WHM unsecurly it gives you the option to sign in securly if you choose to do so.
