OOPS!
Spoke too soon - Same behaviour as before - the Yahoo lottery - some get through, and some don't! Must be quiet on the servers at the moment!
Domainkeys can only be evaluated if it's absolutely correct, so another red herring atm!

Doesn't look right to me!! Just to rule out Yahoo having a quiet day today!
Thanks
I added Domainkeys for your domain on Viking only. I will get those added on liverpool as well.

Domainkeys have been added for your domain and I've sent one email to one of my yahoo account from your domain name which was immediately received.

For info: I'm also having problems sending email to Yahoo from agusta.

I raised a ticket some time ago when I first noticed problems with yahoo mail and hotmail accounts. Your tech support fixed the hotmail problem and I thought they had fixed the yahoo problem as well because I did manage to get a test mail through.

But since then it's stopped working again and I can't seem to get any email to my yahoo test account.

It's not to pressing issue for me at the moment but could threaten my plans for world domination in the longer term.

Nice to see you are working hard to get this fixed.

Mark,
That's strange, because I've just sent another message - this time it DID get through, but with

Quote:
X-YahooFilteredBulk: 91.186.0.3
X-Originating-IP: [91.186.0.3]
Return-Path: <nige@sxxxxxe.co.uk>
Authentication-Results: mta838.mail.ukl.yahoo.com from=xxxxxxx.co.uk; domainkeys=permerror (no key)
Received: from 91.186.0.3 (EHLO viking.eukhost.com) (91.186.0.3) by mta838.mail.ukl.yahoo.com with SMTP; Wed, 21 Nov 2007 16:16:11 +0000
DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; q=dns; c=simple; s=default; d=xxx.co.uk;
So, now the YahooFilteredBulk field is back, whereas it has disappeared in the headers of an earlier message.

Given that there are problems with other servers too, it does look likely that Yahoo can't even implement its own authentication methods properly.
Which doesn't surprise me.

Here's anothter. Sent at 14:51, so still mighty slow. On this domainkeys passes!

I just sent 2 test messages within 5 minutes - both arrived, but with one domainkeys passed, and the other it failed. What on earth is the point of Yahoo having something so flaky?
Just a total waste of everyone's time.

Same here - it's still as sporadic as before. Gmail gets through straight away every time though - it's only domain mail that's failing or being delayed.

Here's the header of another delayed one - domainkeys is ok, we know the domain has SPF records, so it has to be either eukhost hanging on to the mail, or Yahoo hanging on to it. Doesn't it? It can't be a simple traffic issue with Yahoo, otherwsie gmail would be similarly delayed. So, either Yahoo is prioritising gmail, or....

Guys, I've just sat for 5 minutes sending test emails from my test Yahoo account to my email address rsresourcing.co.uk here at EUK.

Every one of them has came through instantly.

Sending the opposite way though, to Yahoo from my email addy at rsresourcing.co.uk or attempting to reply to messages successfully delivered when sent from Yahoo, is where the "lottery" bit comes in and they are not being delivered on time or at all.

Previously, my client was not getting any email from Yahoo or it was overly late in arriving, but now that problem seems to be gone and its just the problem of not being able to send emails from here on the EUK hosted server from rsresourcing.co.uk to Yahoo.

So whatever "fixes" and "workarounds" you guys at EUK have been trying over the last few days, I'm thinking that at some stage its kinda solved half the problem?.

Again, I'll monitor it and continue to send test emails from Yahoo to rsresourcing.co.uk.

I've never had a problem sending FROM Yahoo either. It's TO from a eukhosted domain that's always been the issue.
Domain keys and SPF records certainly seem to have helped, but perhaps there's something else....?

I can't suggest - I'm not a hosting company!

However, here's the evidence:
1. Domainkeys and SPF records now in place - For which, thanks very much
2. Mail from gmail accounts TO Yahoo accounts is delivered consistently and immediately.
3. Mail FROM Yahoo accounts TO gmail accounts and eukhosted accounts is delivered immediately and consistently.
4. Mail from eukhosted domains is delivered intermittently - either not at all or with delays.

So, if we take each piece of evidence -

1. The problem cannot be solely due to lack of domainkeys and SPF records, since (a) the issue has not improved since adding them and (b) mail from liverpool was still delivered, albeit intermittently, despite having no SPF records or Domainkeys. A possibility here is that the domainkeys authentication procedure doesn't actually work properly, or is broken atm!

2. GMail is delivered straight away - afaik, there is no difference between eukhost mail and gmail now that eukhost mail has SPF and domainkeys. So, it can't just be a traffic-jam problem TO Yahoo accounts - otherwise, gmail would be delayed too.

3. Since nobody has reported sending problems FROM Yahoo, we can assume it's not a Yahoo SMTP error, or an error with eukhost receiving mail.

4. What's left? - Yahoo is delaying mail BUT ONLY from none gmail accounts, or eukhost accounts. Does that seem feasible to anyone? I'm not being clever here - I simply don't know. The only other possible option to explore, from eukhost's POV, is whether its SMTP servers are suffering from heavy traffic that's causing delays? Again, I'm no expert. Just going on a process of elimination.

And to just to emphasise Mark - i'm really not having a go at Eukhost here - In fact I applaud your efforts to sort things out. If the Merchant Bankers at Yahoo had done the same, then I'm sure the both of you would have resolved this by now!

Gary and Nige, I'm sure you're both still highly frustrated by these problems but I wanted to let you know that I still have 100% success with all my onboard accounts who send email to Yahoo mailboxes, including those of the worst offender that I mentioned previously, who today sent another mass-mailing to his buddies but without problem this time (these include recipients at Yahoo and BT who have always suffered deferrals previously to my most recent changes).

I don't know exactly why this is currently working but to reiterate, I'm not using DomainKeys; my server's hostname's DNS record carries an SPF entry that matches that of all the accounts on the server; all the RDNS records reflect the same IP address — it's a totally common theme.

I'm left wondering if this is critical because when I look at Viking for example, it doesn't follow that formula. I'm confused by the SPF records having different IPs to that of Viking's own IP, yet they seem to be held within the same datacentre at Maidenhead, albeit under ownership of two different companies?! The SPF record of rsresourcing.co.uk doesn't match that of Viking itself, but it does use Viking's IP address — why is that and does it make a difference?

Footnote: Gary, you haven't responded to two PMs I sent — did you receive them please? I dislike it that vBulletin doesn't prompt you when you have unread PMs, so maybe you're just unaware of them?

Our SMTP server has no problem at all as emails sent to gmail, hotmail and all other domains are sent immediately. gmail must be whitelisted completely as they cannot filter each and every email received from gmail.

try sending few spams from gmail and they will reach your yahoo mailbox which proves that gmail is completely whitelisted by yahoo. lets wait for few days and see how it goes from here.

Roger that Mark.

Will wait a bit longer and see how things go.

I'm actually off out tomorrow to my rsresourcing client to reformat and reinstall a couple of their PC's and no doubt they will be asking me about any progress made on the Yahoo issue, despite me being in touch with them already today a few times.

@247, you are correct, I was not aware I had PM's, had no idea......sorry!!!

Will read and reply to you just now.

Gary.

*UPDATE* All emails that I sent today as TESTS to Yahoo from rsresourcing.co.uk, that I previously said had not turned up yet, have just arrived in my Yahoo Inbox.

Will post the full header of the latest one to arrive if that would be of use to anyone to look at, can post the headers of the rest if required:-
