Still testing - The delay has returned this morning. 30 minutes so far, and counting. Sending from Thunderbird remote. Messages from viking and liverpool have yet to arrive.
Mail from other networks (not just gmail) is being delivered immediately.

can you provide me with login details of yahoo mailbox you are using for testing ?

I will send few emails from mark@simme**** to same yahoo mailbox from my end and you send few from your end. as we both will have access to that yahoo mailbox so there should not be any difference of opinion.

At least we will come to know if there's any difference in our method of sending emails.

Thanks Mark
I just sent you the details.
As you can see, a test at 12:04 was delivered immediately.
There's still one in limbo.

Sod's law - there's seems to be no delay at the moment - just sent 5 - have received 4 so far - one is MIA after about 12 minutes. The others arrived straight away.

[Edit] The missing message arrived after a delay of about 50 minutes. Other tests are appearing immediately.
I'm just wondering why your second test message was diverted to the Bulk folder, whereas the first was delivered direct to the Inbox?

This could happen if the spam filters think that unusually fast messages are being sent to you from one address - it might have just identified that address incorrectly as being a source for spam.

David,
I think that may be a possibility, but there's no consistency in which mail gets delayed - In this case, the mesage was sent 8 minutes after the previous one. In other cases, messages have been delayed when only one has been sent to a Yahoo account, but not delayed when there's been a flurry of messages (such as there are when people are engaged in email converations or indeed when I've sent messages in quick succession).
There were delays this morning, and since lunchtime all messages have been getting through. Given that eukhost have configured my domain for domainkeys and added SPF records, I can only assume that there's congestion somewhere along the way between eukhost servers and Yahoo servers.

Yes that sounds probable. The reason I gave explains why e-mail that previously arrived in the inbox is now going to junk but you are right that it does seem strange that there is no consistency in the delayed messages. As you said, probably congestion which is causing it. I wouldn't be surprised if BT / Yahoo!s servers might be buckling under the demand of its users!

Finaly got the stock rejection message from yahoo - with the link to the useless help page.

This is from a message I sent with webmail

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.
A message that you sent has not yet been delivered to one or more of its
recipients after more than 24 hours on the queue on agusta.eukhost.com.

The message identifier is: 1Iux1m-00034Z-1U
The subject of the message is: Re: I think it migh e working now!
The date of the message is: Wed, 21 Nov 2007 21:22:34 +0000

The address to which the message has not yet been delivered is:

****.*******@yahoo.co.uk
Delay reason: SMTP error from remote mail server after initial connection:
host mx2.mail.ukl.yahoo.com [217.12.11.64]: 421 Message from (78.129.128.40) temporarily deferred - 4.16.50. Please refer to http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/defer/defer-06.html

No action is required on your part. Delivery attempts will continue for
some time, and this warning may be repeated at intervals if the message
remains undelivered. Eventually the mail delivery software will give up,
and when that happens, the message will be returned to you.

Not wishing to criticise these tests being implemented, only to say that it looks like there's a continuance of random deferrals by Yahoo, so isn't it time some more changes were implemented? But what?

Well, I keep writing that I'm having NO problems at all (for a whole week and more) and because my server's DNS records are set up differently from some of eUKhost's servers that have been featuring in these tests, I've asked why these anomalies exist but no-one from Tech Support has been brave enough to answer yet — why not please?

If you honestly don't know then please say so and let's start talking about structuring some other changes ...

@Gadge - Seconded.
It's worth a try isn't it Mark?

Actually, maybe it's not - Can someone at eukhost tell me if you're tinkering with viking at the moment? because I've lost access (again) to the Mail Admin control panel, and Outlook isn't connecting to the mail servers. Naturally, webmail is also down.

What I'm worried about is that we'll go through all these steps, only for someone at eukhost to tread on a cable and break the whole thing again!

Nige,

I'm just home from dayshift and I just fired up Outlook. All my accounts in there on Viking are connecting to the email servers at EUK fine.

Just sent a test email to Yahoo and it arrived instantly.

Are you still having hassle's connecting to the EUK mail servers?.

Hello Roger,

There's absolutely nothing wrong with rDNS, SPF or Domainkeys of viking. what you see in DNS reports is for eUKhost main server and not for Viking. DNS report wont show details of subdomains but it will show details of the main domain.

Your hostname is subdomain of your main domain which is hosted on same server so you see right SPF records for your hostname while our domain is hosted on different server so you wont see accurate results. try some other hostnames of our servers and you will see same result in DNS report.

Thirs party Yahoo accounts that all mail is being delivered immediatley, as do my test Yahoo accounts.
For me, at least, this is enough for now.
Thanks again to all who've helped!

Unhappy

Sadly I can't report any success with sending mail to Yahoo from Agusta.

I'm starting to feel left out.
