Spammed

This morning I received 482 spam e-mails! The spambox is on, the spam fighter is on - So why didn't they get caught?

Can you post a sample of one of the messages you received here, including its headers?

Also, what type of hosting do you have, (Shared, Reseller, VPS Hosting, Dedicated Server etc etc)?

First thing I would suggest you to do is get an account on spamcop.net and submit message source of the spams you get. This has been quite helpful for me so far as most of the spammers have delisted my email address from their mailing list. Initially you loose some time in reporting but its good in long run as you manage to save good amount of bandwidth of your account and less headache of managing all emails in your outlook in long run.

As of now you can submit a ticket on our helpdesk and allow our system admins to find out what made this spam outbreak.

Its strange for a whole load of them to fly through at once. Maybe the spam server was playing games with itself.

Have you been recieving anymore since the huge amount that came through??

Yes, or maybe the spam systems were temporarily offline at one point which led to them getting through?

I used to use spamcop religiously but with all the spam I get it was taking me forever to do it and it didnt seem to make all that much difference to the amount of emails I was getting. I stuck with it for about 4 months and then stopped.

Yes, it seems that was the case. I didn't get but one in the last 24 hours.

Glad to hear that the problem has sorted itself out then!! As I said, the spam service probably temporarily went down and rebooted itself but unfortunately not before some spam got through.
