Subdomains

Before I open a support ticket, I just want to make sure I am not doing anything stupid.

I want to make a subdomain risingdeath.borninblood.co.uk point to http://www.borninblood.co.uk/risingdeath

So in Cpanel, I went to subdomains and made a new one (this is my first time doing this) - named it risingdeath and told it to redirect to the correct url.

However when you type in the URL http://risingdeath.borninblood.co.uk I get an error saying the page cannot be found.

Is there anything I am doing daft or has my cpanel not been set up right?

When I moved to this host my cpanel (and all the options associated with it) were transferred across, and on the package I used to be one there were a lot of restrictions that EUKhost forgot to refix for me, so I am thinking it may be another one of those problems...

To setup redirrection for the subdomain to http://www.borninblood.co.uk/risingdeath then go through as follow

Cpanel >> Manage SubDomains >> Setup Redirection.
If the redirrection is not working then add the following rule into sudomain directory then .htaccess file.

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^sudomain.maindomain.com$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^sudomain.maindomain.com$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.borninblood.co.uk/risingdeath [R=301,L]

You won't need redirection. Just create a subdomain using Cpanel, which will create a subdirectory in your public_html folder. Use this folder as the root of http://subdomain.borninblood.co.uk

In fact, you already have risingdeath folder in your public_html and it is working. Just remove any redirection for the subdomain and copy the files to this folder for subdomain risingdeath.

Hope you managed to sort it borninblood. By default (without any redirection) www.subdomain.yourdomain.com redirects to www.yourdomain.com/subdomain. Redirection is available in case you want to point it someone else apart from the standard.
