Just noticed that cPanel has been updated and improved on my dedicated server.

I am particularly interested in the web drive function but cannot get it working. Every time I follow the instructions in cPanel it displays an error saying "IE couldn't open https://MYDOMAIN/2078 as a web folder. Would you like to see its default view instead?" I currently have IE7 and I'm running XP on a LAN with a router connection to the NET.

Any ideas? Do I need to configure firewalls etc to get it working?

I'm guessing it could be a few things...

If you're on shared hosting, your https address isn't that of your domain. It'll be something like this: https:// server.eukhost.com/~yourusername/ where "server" is the server you are using for hosting which you can see on the left hand side in CPanel.

Another thing that might be possible is that you need frontpage extensions installed. When I've added my website hosting as a network place in XP, I've had to have them installed to get it to work.

I'd see if those things work and if not, I'll see if I can think of anything else.... Lol.

I've tried using the shared hosting name and also installing fron page extentions on the domains but it still isn't working.

I had a play the other day and it seemed to work.... I tend to just use network places instead as I don't often need to be anywhere other than the public_html folder. If I do, then I use ftp instead.

The other thing that might be (but I doubt it is) is the firewall. Try accessing it with your PC firewall disabled and if that fails, maybe the one in the router as well. I don't see why it should be blocking ports in that range though.

Further to that, I've just had another fiddle about and I get the same thing in IE. If you open it as http:// rather than https:// it seems to work....

Sorted it. For some reason the folder hadn't been created and then it worked! (Think that's why it worked) lol

Good to see that you have got it to work. There have been a few teething problems with the new cPanel but things seem to be settling down now. I had 404 problems with the image thumnailer and other tools a few days ago (but these are all sorted now).

I have noticed another problem.

When you try and add a directory to a folder which always already has one, you get an error saying folder already exists. This happens if you create a new directory or upload another one.

I have done a quick search on google but have not found any solutions.

This version of cpanel has been released recently so you wont find anything in google as of now. better option would be to raise a ticket for our support team and ask them for explanation.

Theres bound to be problems with the new cPanel, as you only find out all the bugs once it is realeased unfortunately. As Mark said, support will probably be able to help and if it is a cPanel based problem (and is quite severe like that and takes away functionality) I am sure they will release an update for it soon .
