Default phpbb with sql server

1) Domain Name: goodoldarsenal.net

2) Server Name and IP address: 87.117.201.106

3) Description of problem:

I am trying to run a phpbb forum with an sql database. When I try to run the phpbb setup It says:

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

I have a database called php setup on server eurofighter\SQLEXPRESS

When running the phpbb setup that's the Database Server Hostname I specify
eurofighter\SQLEXPRESS as the Database Server Hostname / DSN

Can anyone explain why it won't connect?

Try 'localhost\SQLEXPRESS' or '127.0.0.1\SQLEXPRESS'; either of those should work.

And running PHPBB off MS SQL Server - that's a first.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Tried both but still the same problem.

I suggest that you use a MySQL database for the PHPBB forum instead of Microsoft SQL. There has always been problems with PHP using SQL Server - that's why there's MySQL.

I would suggest that you check the connection string once again. Its not able to connect to the database. So maybe there is an issue with the connection string in itself.
