Default This server requires PTR for unauthenticated connections

Ive had customers phone me to say they cannot send email to me.

The error they are getting is: This server requires PTR for unauthenticated connections

Spencer T on the LiveChat said I should ask all customers to change their mail server settings. This is not pratical and any new customers cannot contact us.

In my view, it was working before, its not working now. Please have this sorted ASAP.

Hi,

Please let me know if you are hosted on a shared server or vps or dedicated server ?

I'm not able to figure out your account details.

Hello,

EMail Server on our Windows Shared hosting server has been recently upgraded to a higher version which allows us to reject emails from the IPs that do not have a PTR (rDNS) record. This is to minimize the number of SPAM that we receive on our server and also enables email to be rejected at the root level before flooding the Plesk mail filter.

You will have to ask your client to contact his/her ISP to have a PTR (rDNS) for the mail server IP address.

I'm on shared hosting. While I agree that getting rid of spam is notable, its done nothing to the 100+ spam I get a day. Since 00:00, i've had 34 spam emails.

This update has not solved any spam issues for me and has only caused problems with customers not being able to email me. How can you expect me to tell my customers that you need to change your settings to email me?

How will new customers email me if they have the same problem?

eUKhost.com, I hope you'll agree that something needs to be done

Hello,

We have had severe problems with SPAM attack on few domains on our shared servers resulting in the queue getting jammed because Plesk Spam filter is not able to cope up with them. The PTR setting that has been applied has definitely solved the problem of email getting stuck in to the queue. If you receive too many spams then you can either configure Spam Assassin on your account or email at windows [at] eukhost.com and we will configure it for you.

Having a PTR record is most commonly used security policy today which is followed by well know email providers like AOL, Hotmail, Yahoo, gMail, BT and many more. If your client is not able to send mails to our server then it confirmed that he/she is not able to send on any account with above providers.
