Default ssl cert

hi folks.

i am new to implementing one of these .

can somebody give me the run down on what is involved.

do you buy the cert , which there are all different types. and how do you implement that to secure data from your browser ?

how much do they cost per annum ?

i am hosted on eukhost for years now and i am taking the next step with a store .

thanks

c.

Hello,

With a SSL certificate, you are able to encrypt data between the server and your clients. This is extremely useful on billing systems, contact forms, and e-commerce systems.

Your domain name will be assigned with a dedicated IP address. Whether you type in your URL or the numeric form of its IP address, both will bring you to the same domain.

Dedicated SSL certificate will be either created on secure URL which will look like https://domainname.com. The cheapest SSL certificate costs £39.00 per year which is inclusive of a dedicated IP address for a year.

You may check the details at eUKhost - Private SSL | Dedicated SSL Certificates

Please feel free to post if you have any questions.

thanks for the reply jack,

i have a whm with eukhost , but recently i bought a copper package for the online shop. basically i want to know what ssl cert is the best for the site and that information will be safe.

i am installing a shop , do i need the full shop to be in the https:// part of the site of just the transaction part ?

there are different prices for ssl certs what makes the price go up ?

thanks

You can opt for RapidSSL Certificate for your online shop. You can keep the transactions part as https:// as that is where the encryption would be required most.

The difference between these certificates apart from the price is the level of authentication and validation done. The encryption remains the same but the validation process is the main thing that has changed. The level of authentication is more in depth which in turn boosts consumer confidence.

If you want/need the content filled in the forms to be transmitted through a secure channel, then only the SSL would be necessary. But as you say, the payment module is offsite, there's no need to go for an SSL right now But AFAIK, secure forms would be an added advantage.. Good luck with the shop

thanks

i appreciate the replies here today they have been quick and sharp.

i am just thinking that if i am signing people up and holding there info would a free ssl cert be ok , better than nothing .

have you guys ever used a Interceptor , when you see that in action it makes you think twice .

this thing is a teddy bear lol that parallel sends the packets through a wireless antenna.

its mad.

but thanks for the info , i am going off site for x amount a year and then i might research an ssl for the form , plus its nice to play around with ssl to get a feel for it .

euk are doing 39 pound a year ssl thats not bad .

just a question on that as i dont know yet . to make ssl work , how exactly do you secure just form pages . unclear as of yet .

thanks

The £39 yearly fees includes a dedicated IP required for installation of the certificate. We will also take care of the installation of the certificate on the pages you wish to if you purchase the certificate through us.
