Default Liverpool down - again

Blah...blah... ticket submited....
liverpool down - again.

Bored with eukhost's firefighting approach to problems - Wait until something breaks, then run around like BAFs trying to get it fixed.

Please, don't go into parachute manufacturing!

The willingness to help is there. don't get me wrong, but what's the point if nobodty can rely on the service?

I think you need to complain to your ISP, rather than eUKhost.

Liverpool is working fine.

Actually, I think I really, really, need to close my account with eukhost.
You don't know what you're doing at all do you? I am SICK of this attitude that you have to your customers. I am SICK of having these problems. If you'd have BOTHERED to look at your OWN support logs before making your smart alec comment, then you'd realise that it was eukhost's fault YET AGAIN.

The cheapest hosting company in the UK? - yes, it shows.

Hello,

I'm sure no offence was meant. Just to clarify things, eUK-Thomas is not a Support Representative of eUKhost and is not able to check your support tickets. Thomas is a forum moderator and quite generously spends some of his spare time to keep the forum clean of Spam posts and other things needing the attention of a moderator. Technically his comments were also correct as there was not a problem on the physical server itself and it was not having an impact on other clients.

Please PM me your support ticket IDs and I will look into this for you. If there is some genuine fault with the support experience you have received, we will unconditionally apologise and make sure this won't happen again. I'm sure you would agree our forum would be full of these such posts if this was anything close to our usual level of support.

My post wasn't intended to cause offence, and in no way was it intended to be patronising.

I spend a lot of time on here, along with all the other moderators who ensure the forum is a clean and a spam-free place to be, but a lot of our work is under appreciated, and especially in this situation (not the first), I seem to be targeted as "The Bad Guy".

Thomas - I don't see you as the bad guy - just a little too quick in this instance to issue a simplistic response to an issue for which you did not have all of the facts.

As a casual observer to this thread, I find it strange that Thomas uses an eUKhost avatar when he is not an employee, yet John who is, does not?!

It's no wonder some get confused ...

Staff are coloured gold, moderators orange just to clarify the confusion . Not sure if we need to decide whether we should just be the member's user colour or not.

I think 247h was referring to the Eukhost logo next to Thomas's screen name - not just the colour!
John doesn't use the logo (staff member) - Thomas does (non staff member).

Yes, I did specifically use the word avatar. As for the colour schemes to indicate status, that's somewhat lost on me being partially colour-blind AND, where's the banner explaining what these colour categories represent?

Thomas has been using the eUK avatar for a while now, longer than some of the employees, but I think it's time there was a corporate identity put in place with all employees using the eUK logo and them alone, no exceptions — no misunderstandings then ...

This forum has nothing to do with our Support or Business policies. There's no mention of our forum in our TOS or SLA or any other policies. anyone can join this forum for discussion so we cannot think of making any policies for this forum.

I personally found the user titles quite self explanatory. Mine says Operations Manager. eUKhost.com says Chief Marketing Officer, Moderators say erm, Moderator. Yours says Senior Member.

I apologise for any confusion but it does seem, to me anyway, that the current titles explain things quite well.

Yes, I agree that some of the titles do explain thing quite well. Unfortunately, as 247h indicates, the use of the eukhost logo make it less clear who is actually a eukhost employee and who isn't. Added to this the fact that, with many forums of other companies, Moderators, and those who use the title moderator, tend to be employees of the company. The title Moderator isn't self explanatory with regard to whether the holder of the title is a company employee or not.

Me and Ben are known as Super Mods so our tag lines don't display our role within the forums. Normal mods have the taglines, and admins and supermods are listed here: http://www.eukhost.com/forums/showgroups.php.

I'm only a moderator, and do not work for eUKhost in any way. Opinions expressed by me are mine only, and do not reflect those of either eUKhost or any company that may be listed above.

It's not at all obvious in any single topic that you are (super*) moderators (though I concede it is possible to find out elsewhere, as you indicated), but you seem to be missing the point which is that we have had a situation where a non-staff moderator is using an eUKhost avatar and was mistakenly seen as being a staff member because of it (as well as having a username prefixed with 'eUK').

BTW, I'm not knocking Thomas — he generally does a good job around here and has only recently become infamous for his 'Welsh diplomacy'! In my opinion an apology wasn't necessary ...

LATE EDIT: Of course, this would all be resolved at a stroke if Robert or Mark gave him a job!

(*whatever the distinction is)?

Wow. A lot happens in a few days! Anyway, I can understand the point where the use of the eUKhost avatar in conjunction with the "eUK" prefix can be misleading. I can see that there is a case against this. A lot of sites do especially use a prefix for indicating staff members. I admit that I do personally (adopting a "DPS" prefix) which i specfically forbid for use in usernames at the beggining to avoid confusion.

I'm glad to see that the situation has been sorted satisfactorily in the other thread .
