Hello Michael,
I am looking into this and I will let you know once this has been sorted. It seems there's some error with DNS server.

Backup DNS also down?
Website and email is still down.
If the named (DNS) service on Merlin is down, shouldn't the backup DNS server (ns8.eukdns.com) still be able to resolve the hostname?
A query via dnswatch.info does not resolve on either ns7.eukdns.com or ns8.eukdns.com
It simply responds with "Too many delegations to other servers. Probably a loop."
As far as the rest of the world is concerned, my domain does not even exist since it is not resolvable!!! No surprise if an email gets lost in the process...

Might want to add more hard disk space also.
From cPanel
Disk /dev/sda7 (/home) 96 %

Whats the story then?
Again we have multiple stories...
Live support to Megaboost: "...this is because of a security update on Merlin"
Ryan: "One of the RAM sticks on Merlin had a problem as a result of which we had to replace it asap."
eUKhost.com: "It seems there's some error with DNS server."

Both Nameservers are hosted on same server.

As we have replaced old drive with 15k RPM new drives so the disk space available on the new drives is less but we will manage to clean some old unwanted backups from the /home drive to bring down used space to 70%.

Initially we were not able to figure out why it went down but then we managed to figure out that it was due to RAM. DNS problem has come after RAM upgrade and we are sorting it. Some .db files are corrupt which are being restored from old server.
HDD was replaced on this server last week.

We apologize for the inconvenience you had in last couple of days. Volume of signups increased suddenly from second week of this month and the old HDD on Merlin was not able to deal with the amount of Read / Write going on. We were not aware of such problem as this has happened for the first time. Another server which was getting filled at same time for reseller hosting had similar problem and now we have found solution for this problem.
We have ordered all new servers with SAS drives and we will be filling 2 + 2 servers at a time for reseller as well as shared hosting to avoid such huge volume of Read / Write processes on the servers. New SAS drives wont face any problem now and there wont be any problem in future once we restore corrupt zone files from backup server.

Any update?
Is there any outlook on how long this restore is going to take?

After the problems earlier, eUK are looking into ways of improving this side of things but it's a case of working out who's going to be dealing with it on here and making sure it get's done. Obviously if you make it a tech person they're not going to be taking time to fix things so it's finding the right person. But as I say, it is being worked on.
And with any problem, you have to do some digging to get to the bottom of things. And when it comes to computers, when one thing goes wrong, it can send lots of other things with it which seems to be the case with the DNS here.

Your website is working fine from my end. please check and let me know if you see any problems as the DNS cache on your end must be taking more time to flush.

Almost but not quite...
Website is up and I received some inbound emails but I still cannot send emails.
Outlook fails with:
Task 'POPMAIL - Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Port change solved it
Changed the SMTP port to 25 and now it works!
I always thought port 26 was a strange setting but it worked until last night

Port 26 too should work now. Port 25 is the default SMTP port but 26 is an alternative to it.

You can use port 26 for SMTP. This port is now open on Merlin.
