Exclamation Puma Migration

Dear Customers,

Our shared server puma.eukhost.com will be migrated today. There wont be any downtime. Everything remains the same including your nameservers and IP's. The new server has the following specifications.

Dual Quad Core Intel Xeon E5420, 2.5GHz
12GB RAM
2 x 500GB SATA (hot plug)
Hardware RAID1 with Dell Controllers

Eukhost would like to thank you all for the immense co-operation and patience shown during the trouble Puma had.

seems like we will experience 10 - 15 minutes downtime during migration. There's no space for additional server in rack of existing server, so we will need to shutdown old server and then swap it with new server.

Puma will be swapped with new server at 10 PM ( May 23, 2008 )

Everything is looking good here for me in Spain. Hope everyone else is doing ok. Been quite a day. Taking self to bed with a brandy for a much needed lie down. Hope you guys at eUKhost manage to catch some ZZZZZ's once the migration is completed and you are satisfied things are cool and green.

seems like the server swap option won't work. old server is hosted in rack which cannot fulfill power requirements of the Dell poweredge 1950 servers. We have decided to forward A records and MX records of all domains on puma to the new server.

Customers not hosting their DNS on puma will need to change A records and mx records of their domains to make them point to the new server. Their website hostings will continue to work from the old server till they point A records to new server.

I'll send a notification to all customers hosted on puma with details of new nameserver IPs and shared IP. you can change IPs of your nameservers anytime in next 7 - 10 days as old server will stay online for 2 weeks to allow sufficient time for nameserver IP updates.

Nothing seems to be working. Can't access email, control panel, website hostings, ftp etc. I thought you said there wouldn't be any downtime.

Hello Paul,

Mark did say in his earlier post that there will be downtime.

" . . . old server is hosted in rack which cannot fulfill power requirements of the Dell poweredge 1950 servers. We have decided to forward A records and MX records of all domains on puma to the new server.

Customers not hosting their DNS on puma will need to change A records and mx records of their domains to make them point to the new server. Their website hostings will continue to work from the old server till they point A records to new server."

The server came up and all sites have been functioning correctly thereafter. At this instance, the server's firewall was being tweaked because of which the sites are inacessible. All the website hostings would be online in the next few minutes.

I though it would have been over by now.

Hello Paul,

Your website hosting is now working. I had mentioned in my last post that "the server's firewall was being tweaked because of which the sites are inaccessible."

Everything is up and working now.

Hello,

The website hosting fishguardferry.co.uk is working now. The domain secret-desire.co.uk was pointing to the old server IP. The A record has been corrected now. Both the domains are fully functional.
