Well heres good luck to the move today and I hope everything goes OK. I'm sure everything will be sorted in a few hours for the servers that are moving tonight.

Unhappy The plugs have been pulled on #1

For anyone interested or curious to know progress, my system was halted at 23:01:46 and by 23:08 I'd received an email from serviceuptime.com, informing me of connection failures to my server hostname from two of their monitoring locations ...

eUKhost Rack #1 seems to be on its way!

I did this and they told me my VPS was being moved on the 26th (ticket: #DFY-52864-310). Guess what, they were wrong and now my server is being moved now.

I am extremely annoyed at this because I am the one who will have to explain to my customer why his website is down, why he will be missing out on potential bookings, why he has been paying PPC ads when his website is not even working.

I know eUKHost have a "never say sorry" policy. But surely you can understand my frustrations. My customer will not accept "it's not me, it's my host" excuses. He pays me for a service and as far as he is concerend, the book stops with me.

The funny thing was, although I was not completly happy with the downtime. I did not worry to much because I thought I had till the 26th. I would have told my customer to pause his PPC ad's and he would have been happy. Now I am going to have to try and get out of this without looking completely useless.

I am very unhappy with this. I would recommend that anyone who has been given a date by eUKhost for their server move, check again and see if you get the same date.

One additional queation i must ask. Is the eUKHost hosting server being moved? If so, when will the downtime for this be?

From my understanding, the eUKhost hosting server won't be moved because this is at RackSpace, not RapidSwitch.

What is RackSpace's relationship with eUKHost? And how come eUKHost don't host their own website using there own servers (or at least the providers of their servers, RapidSwitch)?

Honestly, if Rackspace let you know on a thursday that your servers were being moved the next day and all your customers would be affected for up to 8 hours. Would you not be annoyed? Especially if they tell you, that they did know weeks ago, but made a decision not to tell you till the day before.

Thumbs up Phase 1 Complete?!

I'm pleased to report my server came back online at 03:20, so well done to Rapidswitch — I hope this announcement isn't too premature and I find myself writing back shortly!

I'm really sorry to hear that and am surprised considering it's now nearly 5 hours later! It doesn't make any sense ...

Have you been on LiveChat or telephone? (There's no-one on AIM at present)

Submitted support ticket but as I saw it they were supposed to make sure each VPS was up and running after the move.

If only we had better notice we could have moved everything to another server and avoided this.

Server back up and running at 04:00. Hope everything went well for you eUKHost.

Shame I am the one left to pick up the peices. This whole thing was handled very badly, not what I would expect from a professional outfit. Lets hope we dont have to go through this mess again and this move means I can go through a week without my VPS having a problem.

All servers were online by 3:20. VPS's take time to boot once the nodes are started so it took some extra time for all VPS's to come online.

We had all our servers shutdown at 23:00 hours and the rack was moved at 00:30 hours.

It didn't take more than 4:20 hours for the migration process as I previously said in Relocation of Servers to Maidenhead on 18th, 25th and 26th May 2007

Hi,

Any update on the progress of servers moving tonight (25th - 26th May)? I've been getting the default error page but now I'm just getting a apache success default page. Is this to be expected whilst the migration is going on or should I contact support?

Ta.

I was emailed to say the start of my server being moved would be 03.00, so made appropriate arrangements. the email also said that it would be online by 07.00. Guess what? 9.42am and still down. No response to emails. Live chat no help. Phone calls as useful as a chocolate fireguard. We apologise for any convienience is the only responce I can get. It took me an hour to get on the 24/7 livechat. When I asked for a way of contacting a director of Eukhost, the conversation stopped

Not impressed at all. The whole migration issue has been handled in a totally unprofesional way

So notspot, dont bother with support, it's not worth it!
