DNS Hosting.
My account was recently moved to another server at eUKhost. My DNS servers were ns7.eukdns.com and ns8.eukdns.com, now they're ns23.eukdns.com and ns24.eukdns.com, which is all fine. I updated my domain (with 123reg) with the new dns after the move. Only wierd things are still going on. With one of my add-on domains www.tp-plastering.co.uk, it looks like my customer is seeing a website hosting on one server, I am seeing a different one. When he pings www.tp-plastering.co.uk he gets 87.117.200.71, when I ping it I get 87.117.234.234. Looking at http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/dnsrep...astering.co.uk it shows 'NS records at parent servers' at ns23.eukdns.com and ns24.eukdns.com but 'NS records at your nameservers' at the old ns7.eukdns.com and ns8.eukdns.com.
Can anyone please help me understand what it all means, and whats going on? Will raise a ticket if need be.
Chris

How long ago did you change the nameservers? You should leave up to 7 days for full propagation for your domain to be updated in all countries and ISP's.

Bingo.
Found ure problem:
Quote:
FAIL: You have one or more missing (stealth) nameservers. The following nameserver(s) are listed (at your nameservers) as nameservers for your domain, but are not listed at the parent nameservers (therefore, they may or may not get used, depending on whether your DNS servers return them in the authority section for other requests, per RFC2181 5.4.1). You need to make sure that these stealth nameservers are working; if they are not responding, you may have serious problems! The DNS Report will not query these servers, so you need to be very careful that they are working properly.
ns7.eukdns.com.
ns8.eukdns.com.
This is listed as an ERROR because there are some cases where nasty problems can occur (if the TTLs vary from the NS records at the root servers and the NS records point to your own domain, for example).
|
Note the nameservers above are wrong in the DNS records. - ask eUKHost to resolve this for you.

Yes, I see the problem. I would expect eukhost to get all this stuff correct though, without me having to spot the problems myself? I expect all my add-on domains have problems then? Raising ticket...
Another annoying problem, is that for some of my domains, the nameserver settings that I set with 123reg have reverted to old settings in a similar way to Changing your own nameservers .
Arrrggghhh!!!

7 days for propergation! Officially I am told by support that it takes 12-24 hours after a server transfer for propergation to occur.
Easiest thing if your still having problems is by opening a ticket at support@eukhost.com or starting a LiveChat through the main eUKhost website hosting ( http://www.eukhost.com).
Hope that helps .
