What domain extension should I choose?
It depends entirely on what your target audience is and whether the intended audience of your website is worldwide or country-specific. Many people searching may elect to choose results that have a country-specific domain - for example, if someone is looking for an online e-commerce store in the UK. The domain extension you choose is an important factor towards local search results, and so you may want to elect for a country-specific domain extension if your website is targeting a country-specific audience.
In general, we recommend you focus on choosing a domain extension that best fits what your website is about and whether your website has a country-specific or a worldwide audience. While the .COM extension is abbreviated for ".commercial", the domain extension is by far the most popular and fits well for a general-purpose domain name.
If you are intending to purchase cPanel Web Hosting or Reseller Hosting, you can register a domain name at the time of ordering any shared or reseller hosting package.

When you register a domain name, the personal contact information of the domain owner is publicly accessible via a WHOIS database in case anyone needs to contact you - this is required under ICANN rules, and supplying false information can ultimately result in your domain name being suspended. All information, including your telephone number, must be correct, valid and up to date. Technically, if you supply WHOIS information that corresponds to someone else, ICANN considers that the personal information supplied in the WHOIS database as the legal owner of the domain name.
The problem with supplying personal information is the fact the system is prone to misuse - spammers may make use of the database to send unsolicited spam and marketing calls, and can understandably be a security concern if someone does not want to make their address and other personal information readily accessible to anyone that wants to access it.

Domain ID Protection adequately solves this problem by masking your personal information with that of the provider offering the service - and is perfectly acceptable under ICANN rules. While there have been ongoing debates about whether ICANN should change the rules surrounding WHOIS database information, for any generic top-level domains (gTLDs) such as .COM, .NET and .INFO, you need to either have publicly available information or make use of a Domain ID Protection provider - which is an additional fee on top of your domain registration; and like your domain name, can be renewed annually.
eUKhost offers Domain ID Protection at the time of registering your domain name for just £5 per year per domain. And when your domain is ready to be renewed, you can renew your Domain ID Protection at the same time. By having Domain ID Protection, any e-mails the WHOIS privacy provider receives will be forwarded to you. Likewise, if any mail or fax is received, they will forward it to your home address.
In general, a Domain ID Protection provider will only ever provide your personal information to a third party if an order has been issued by a court of competent jurisdiction or if required to proceed with legal action against someone who is running a websie that is hosting copyrighted material. While Domain ID Protection is not a guarantee of absolute protection with respect to your personal information, it adequately protects against persons trying to access your WHOIS records to contact you for unsolicited marketing purposes. You may be surprised just how effective Domain ID Protection is.
You can buy Domain ID Protection at the time of registering your domain name.
Note: For individuals buying a .UK domain name, you can opt-out of displaying your WHOIS information free of charge, under Nominet rules.

Transferring your domain names to us
You can transfer your domains to us if you are not satisfied with your existing domain name registrar or if you prefer to have all of services in one place. Whether you would like to extend your existing domain name's registration length or you have upcoming domain renewals, it's easy to have your domain name transferred over to us.
If you would like to transfer over a .UK domain name, you simply need to change the IPS TAG of your domain name (or ask your domain name registrar to do this for you) to ours - which is EUKHOST - for your domain name to be transferred over to our registry.
For .COM, .NET, .ORG, .BIZ or other gTLDs, you will need to provide us with the EPP key for your domain name for us to iniate the transfer process. Once you have paid for the domain transfer, we will initiate a transfer request for your domain to be transferred over to us.
